The foot "floats" inside the shoe since the sock has no thickness in the sole. You need to add an extra insole and tighten it more, along with the laces, despite the discomfort this entails. If you don't do it due to the gap, the fast walking is not stable and you can hear the sound of air coming out. They are good, for example, for a formal event for a few hours, but they tire me a lot for an 8-hour shift due to their minimal sole thickness.
