Description

  • How did the "white" man end up as the scapegoat of our times?
  • What transformations in Western societies created the mechanisms that burden him with the responsibility for all of humanity's misfortunes throughout history?

With the fall of the Berlin Wall as a milestone, the famous French author examines, with unconventional reasoning and well-structured argumentation, the slide in France and throughout Europe from the progressivism of the traditional left's triptych "feminism – decolonization – anti-racism" to the obscurantism represented by the poorly digested made in USA version of it.

Analyzing current events and drawing elements from modern and contemporary world history, Pascal Bruckner poses the following question: Could the unprotesting acceptance of the stigma of the contemporary scapegoat for the white man ultimately lead to the replacement of one racism by another and to a kind of war of all against all?

Combined with Fukuyama and Mark Lilla: It describes how identity politics leads to the erroneous conclusion that the model of the white European Christian is the cause of many existing problems in the modern world (especially institutional and social racism). However, this conclusion - as the author documents - does not correspond to historical and contemporary reality.
