The Sena Spider RT1 is a wireless motorcycle intercom for your helmet with three-button control that is glove-friendly. It is the first motorcycle intercom from Sena that operates on the pioneering Mesh intercom platform and is offered at an impressive price. Sena's premium Mesh technology, as first introduced in the top-tier 50S and 50R series, simplifies rider communication for both large and small groups and now offers the same robust reliability to all Spider RT1 users.
It also features two different Sena Mesh Intercom™ modes: Group Mesh Intercom and Multi-Channel Open Mesh Intercom. When using Group Mesh, users create a private group that supports up to 24 riders within a range of up to 8 kilometers.
The Multi-Channel Open Mesh also supports an almost unlimited number of users within a range of up to 8 km. Open Mesh also features multi-channel options, allowing users to switch between nine different channels.
The Spider RT1 features quick charging in just 1.5 hours, which will provide 11.5 hours of talk time. It is compatible with all Sena Mesh devices, including the Spider ST1, 50S, 50R, 30K, Momentum EVO, and any Sena Bluetooth device connected to the +Mesh adapter.
HD Speakers
The premium HD speakers provide impressive audio performance as well as comfort. They are designed with a low profile to reduce potential wear and to fit easily into the existing helmet ear pockets. The HD speakers offer clear communication audio quality and an enhanced music listening experience.
Smartphone Pairing & Audio Multitasking™
Bluetooth 5.1 allows you to pair your smartphone with the Spider RT1 to listen to music, GPS directions, and make a call. It is equipped with Sena's Audio Multitasking™ technology, which allows you to communicate via Mesh Intercom™ while simultaneously using your smartphone functions such as music and GPS.

First of all, I have to say that no matter which communication you choose, you will experience a completely different experience on the bike. As for this one, I have been using it almost daily for 6 months now and I have a complete opinion:
• The battery will never bother you. Mainly I listen to music so I forget to charge it. But even in communication with another rider, it holds up well.
• Its size, as seen in the photo, is neither big nor small. It is not bothersome but it seems like there is a slight bulge on the helmet. The weight is negligible.
• The speakers have quality and powerful sound, BUT as I expected at highway speeds or on rural roads with open air vents and windshield, you forget about bass and quality as the air does not allow it. As for the microphone, it isolates noise very well. I have noticed this when talking to others as they think I am at home and not on the bike.
• The functions it has make driving easier and offer an even more enjoyable experience.
• When riding in the rain, do not worry at all. I have ridden many times in heavy rain and nothing happened at all.
• Updates or settings are done via computer and not through a mobile app, so the practicality and ease in this matter are not ideal.
• The last comment concerns intercom with other riders. On a highway or rural road with a distance of about 100-200 meters between the two bikes, everything is fine, there is no issue. In the city, at a distance of over 50 meters, forget about communication with the other rider. The same applies to turns in the mountains.
Conclusion: For this money, I expected something more in terms of effective communication distance with another rider in the city or on rural roads with turns, but also an easier update and settings process. However, this does not mean that I regret the purchase or cannot live with these shortcomings. If you cannot find an intercom that can offer something more for this money (or an extra 40-50€), then choose this one. Otherwise, the more demanding ones should prefer models of 250+.
P.S.: The difference between the RT1 and ST1 is only the jog dial, which personally does not suit me at all with gloves, I prefer the 3 buttons. Also, the waterproofing on the RT1 is better because it has buttons and not a jog dial.
Enjoy your rides and I hope I clarified some questions for those looking for an intercom!
