In post-civil war Greece - and while the country, in a Cold War atmosphere, is attempting its reconstruction and schools are facing a shortage of teaching staff, as many teachers had lost their lives in the war and the Civil War - the first legendary post-war alphabet book is created, which was published by the School Book Publishing Organization (later renamed the Educational Book Publishing Organization). The "Alphabet Book" - written in the demotic language, with some elements of katharevousa - with scenes and images that capture the interest of children, without tedious didacticism, conveys to students the values of kindness, responsibility, diligence, love for animals, but also fun. [...]
