Plasti-med breathing trainer is a special lung exercise device for the prevention of postoperative complications in the respiratory tract, such as atelectasis or lung dysfunction, in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or patients with acute respiratory problems. 

The PulmoGain spirometer is a deep breathing training device for patients with lung disorders (COPD) or used to improve bronchial drainage and prevent postoperative atelectasis.

The exercise involves lifting and holding the three balls at the top of the tubes for as long as possible (exercise level determined by the physiotherapist). 

The goal is to teach the patient to control their breathing and mobilize their lung volumes. 

This exercise also allows them to improve the endurance and strength of their inspiratory muscles. Each column of the incentive spirometer has different resistance. 

Its use should be under medical supervision (doctor or physiotherapist). The resistance of each tube is different, the health professional will adjust the exercises according to the patient.

The exercises performed with the trainer bring the following benefits:

• Expansion of the pulmonary alveoli for easier breathing,
• Improvement of mucus passage in the respiratory tract, especially in COPD,
• Training the patient to optimize inhalation.

Breathing trainer consists of

• 1 transparent body divided into three compartments of 600, 900, and 1200 cc per second, copolymer, and non-toxic polystyrene. The value in each bucket is the inspired volume per second.
• 1 non-toxic polypropylene base.
• 3 non-toxic polypropylene balls.
• 1 corrugated tube with polyethylene mouthpiece.
• 1 air filter.
• Place the trainer at mouth level and exhale normally before inhaling. 
• Close your lips around the mouthpiece. 
• Inhale continuously until all three balls rise to the same level. 
• Hold your breath for as long as possible (apnea). 
• Remove the mouthpiece from your mouth and exhale. 
• Repeat the exercise.
