Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can
report it here.
It was installed on an old desktop machine with SATA II (with the old HDD kept as cold storage). The PC has been revived compared to the past. It now starts up in 40-50 seconds (previously it took 3-4 minutes). Applications have been accelerated. The software that comes with the disk is very good. You simply download it and put everything in automatic mode. Before cloning, activate the SSD as a simple disk from Windows disk management and then proceed with cloning. Remember to activate the Momentum Cache in the Crucial Storage Executive application (it gives speed). The read/write speed is 250MB/sec (CrystaldiskMark) due to SATA II.
I bought it on 13/09 to replace the Samsung that had half the capacity, it's not fast but okay, the bad thing is that today 15/11 its health has dropped to 88% so it is deemed unsuitable and the Samsung goes back in with 99 health for the past 2.5 years
I have had this SSD for 4 years. Deleting and downloading applications and videos all the time and daily use of at least 3 hours or more has kept me satisfied. The health has dropped to 91%, which I believe is very good. For the money, it is the best SSD on the market. Crucial has never disappointed me. As for the 10 or so people who said it is terrible and broke within a year, they likely got a defective product. Other than that, it's worth it!
Purchased to install windows and video games, not as the main drive but secondary. Its read/write speed was measured to be roughly at the levels promised by the manufacturer. Its performance at first glance is similar to that of the Samsung SSD, which is significantly more expensive. Overall, a very value for money purchase that I recommend to anyone who needs a storage medium with decent speed. If there is a significant drop in performance, I will edit/update this review.
I have never had a problem with these disks. They have very good performance and I mainly use them in old laptops for obvious reasons. They provide speed and longevity to the machines
Purchased on 23/11/2023 (Black Friday week) this specific SSD for a desktop computer where I had never installed an SSD before (I had also bought other items to upgrade the laptop's SSD), I got the Crucial BX500 500GB for the desktop and the Crucial MX500 250GB for the laptop. When I replaced the SSD in the desktop and installed this specific SSD, problems began. I had installed Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and Office 2021 on a 13-year-old desktop with 16GB DDR3 memory and an AMD FX-6200 3.8GHz processor. While the computer booted quickly in seconds, sometimes when I was on the web or typing something in Word, it suddenly displayed a blue screen without me doing anything at all, and it automatically restarted. When the computer started to reboot, and I saw the motherboard name (in this case, I have the Gigabyte 970A-DS3P FX), it showed a message that I needed to reboot and then press enter to proceed. When I pressed the button to turn off the computer and pressed it again to turn it back on, it started normally, but this happened for 9-10 months now, at least 20 times, if not more. From the first moment it did this, I spoke with my technician, and he told me to check the cables, remove them and put them back, but nothing worked. Imagine this started in the first days of the SSD's operation and the installation of Windows, maybe in the first month? I don't remember well. When the situation became critical, I took it to another technician I know in downtown Athens, who checked the disk (SSD) and told me that the disk has an issue; its health had dropped to 98%, and the problem was that it had entered Windows, which caused this behavior (I wrote this as my technician friend told me). Meanwhile, on the laptop, I have the MX500 250GB 2.5'' SATA, which in 10 months has not given me any problems, but I have used it only 16 times, and its SSD health has dropped to 98% without issues, and I have Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and Office 2021 on the laptop. AS FOR THE BX500 500GB, STAY AWAY, I will call to have it replaced with another SSD because it is under warranty. I went to Crucial because I thought it was a well-known company due to their memory products for PCs and laptops, and I trusted them, but the SSD is all plastic; it has no metal parts at all on the outside, it is entirely plastic externally. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE CRUCIAL AGAIN; it was a bad purchase I made. I will go for Kingston or Western Digital, which I have used for USB sticks and mechanical hard drives, and I have been satisfied.
I have had it for 5 months, it is very fast and reliable. I have put it in a PS4 Slim and I have seen a significant difference. I highly recommend it without hesitation.
Purchased for the Lenovo Ideapad 330 laptop. The machine (i5-7500-20GB ram), in combination with a new hard drive and fresh installation of win10, flies!!!! It opens in 3 seconds and is very fast in office applications. I don't have a particularly good opinion of the idol creation program for another hard drive. It seemed rigid and difficult to use, so luckily I ended up with a fresh installation of win10, which is the best choice for a new hard drive. Highly recommended (purchase at 48€)! As it approaches and exceeds 70€, I would probably buy Samsung.
I revived a laptop from 2008 with a dual-core Pentium. In combination with a lite version of Windows that exists, it extends the life of old "slow" laptops. I highly recommend it
For a mid-range system intended for everyday office browsing and light gaming, it is excellent, especially at a price below €35 (500gb) which you can now find it.
I return with some additional comments about speed. The 1TB that I use on my desktop as the main disk is ultimately frustratingly slow in writing - in reading it is perfect, about 500MB/s, but in writing it barely reaches 15MB/s (!) when the Samsung 860EVO reaches over 300MB/s... You get what you pay for, but for an operating disk, the difference is evident, especially in specific programs with many writings (e.g. FreeCAD). However, it remains excellent for a storage and reading disk.
I have four 250GB and 1TB for professional use in Linux systems for about 2 years and I have not encountered any problems, with easy installation and reliable operation. The speed compared to others may be lower, but in office use it is impossible to notice. Definitely, however, it is day and night compared to any traditional disk. For their price, they are a very good choice.
It was installed on a 2015 iMac and took it out of the drawer of useless objects. It is not one of the fastest on the market, but the 500GB usually covers it in terms of read-write (except for the moments I uploaded!). The iMac has been unexpectedly fast and satisfactory so far. I will come back after some time on the machine.
It was installed on a PC used for processor/sales work. Its usage is daily for the past two months. With many reads/writes and there has been no decrease in performance at least for this 2-month period it has been used.
I bought 2 for file storage. Unfortunately, they don't perform well as they are dramless. When transferring large files, the speed drops drastically after a short while, even lower than an HDD. However, they are suitable for a system disk and basic use considering the price.
Resurrected a laptop that operates 24/7. Months later, it has not skipped a beat and the read and write speeds remain at the same levels as the first day. Reliable SSD.
I have replaced the hard drives on all of my computers. A 7-year-old desktop, a 10-year-old laptop, and even the server running omv are using them. I have been using them for over 2 years and have not noticed any decrease in performance.
Much faster SSD than I expected for a budget purchase. I have installed it in an external enclosure for a 2.5" hard drive and it works great for fast file transfer.
I have had the SSD since 18/11/2022. I installed it on my main laptop (Dell Inspiron 5559) which I use for watching movies and YouTube, as well as school work with a lot of coding.
*It was not a clone but a clean installation of Windows.
The replacement was really easy on a hardware level. During the installation of Windows 10, I struggled because the bootable USB had an older version of Windows 10, so I downloaded it again and the installation was done directly.
Differences from the old HDD:
1) The time to enter Windows has been greatly reduced.
2) The opening time of an application (e.g. Google Chrome) has been dramatically reduced.
3) The programs I write in code run much faster.
4) The laptop battery doesn't drain as quickly.
5) Shutdown now happens instantly.
I don't remember the exact times now, but before it took anywhere from 1 to 4 minutes to complete a task, and now the same tasks take at most 5 seconds.
As for the program that comes with the disk, I have no opinion as I did not use it.
Overall, I am quite satisfied. If any issues arise in the future, I will report them and if I have fixed them, I will tell you the way it worked for me.
