  READ /WRITE applies ONLY for internal connection in PCI 4 on a motherboard. I put it in an external UGREEN 40 Mbps Thunderbolt enclosure and connected it to a MAC M4 in a Thunderbolt 4 port and it has a speed of 2400/1900. NOTE that the WD Dashboard program is only for PC, so firmware update only on PC. Within 3 minutes of use, it immediately raised the temperature. Fortunately, the enclosure has its own fan.

  Installation in a laptop with a PCI Express 4.0 slot primary SSD. I noticed a big difference overall compared to the 980 Pro. The speeds are close to the promised ones, it has DRAM, and the accompanying software is less bloated than Samsung Magician. The temperatures are at reasonable levels, with or without a heatsink. In the current generation and until Gen 5 NVMe SSDs become more widespread, I would prefer it over Samsung. Value for money, without sacrificing performance.

  I considered and still consider Samsung to be top in memory, but the disk positively surprised me. I had only purchased external hard drives from WD, so I made the move to SSDs. I wanted the disk to have DRAM, so the WD Black series along with the 980 Pro and 990 Pro were my main choices.
  The speeds are exactly as advertised. I use it as a boot drive, really fast. It also has software, but I haven't messed with it much. It slightly falls behind the 990 Pro but costs significantly less (I bought it for 150€), so I preferred to keep those 25€ in my pocket. For the minimal use so far, as the system was recently built, I have absolutely no issues. Well done WD, I sincerely hope it stands the test of time.

I made a mistake at first and ordered the option with cooling, but Skroutz corrected my order without charging me anything.   Apart from the known and top-notch performances, I chose it for its durability over time. As a developer, reliability is important to me. I was torn between the WD's rival, the Samsung 990 Pro, and this one. The choice for me was clear from the moment that WD uses the charge trap topology as opposed to Samsung's floating gate topology. WD's topology experiences less stress as it is an insulator unlike Samsung's, resulting in lower operating voltages and thus less memory cell degradation over time. The result is greater reliability over time.

  I bought 2 with a capacity of 1TB and installed the operating system on one of them.
  The speeds are satisfactory, but it quickly went to 99% and gave me strange freezes. It had issues with file compression and simultaneous compression of 2 files along with copying from the beginning.
  I replaced the disk that had the operating system installed with a Samsung 990 pro because I thought it might be the motherboard. I noticed a more stable performance, slightly increased speed, but no freezing during heavy tasks!
