There is no other zone with these specific characteristics that can withstand heavy use! I do triathlon, crossfit, canyoning, marathons, and much more! Daily use and constant washing, and the belt is tough! Quick battery change compared to the previous one that required unscrewing, and it connects everywhere!! (Watch, ergometers row bike ski etc). And if anything happens to the Garmin, they give you a new one!!!
It syncs quickly with the watch and you can also perform a lactate threshold test. On the downside, if you want to record distance with the zone, it is not reliable. During the first use, I probably made a wrong selection on the watch (I say probably because I don't remember, but I don't think it was in the default settings) and the distance was recorded from the zone instead of the watch
After two months of daily use, the belt looks very high quality. It connects instantly, never disconnected during the workout, fits perfectly, and does everything it promises. Highly recommended.
Just like with the previous model, with small improvements. The most important one is the battery change, clearly easier and of course without losing its waterproofing.
The connection with the watch (Garmin Fenix 6x Pro) was immediate and it never loses signal on this specific device (unlike other comments I've read). Extremely accurate recordings and with the battery change system, I consider it to be a unique choice.
I have had it for about a month and I am very satisfied. I use it during soccer training where I can't use a watch. The estimation it makes on the kilometers is relatively good but not precise as expected. However, I can't say that I did a good calibration, so there is room for improvement.
Very good belt. Much more stable in its position than the dual one I had before. It provides more measurements for running and also works for swimming. Just needs care when swimming. Wash it every time after salt or chlorine. I haven't had it long enough to comment on durability. Anyway, I had no issues with connection and training.
Very good and accurate in its recordings. However, the main problem is that the connection with the watch (Garmin Fenix 7) is constantly lost, which is unacceptable since they are products of the same company and should have perfect compatibility theoretically, especially with ant+. It detects the heart rate monitor once and loses it the next moment. At the end of each workout, you have to sync the watch with the sensor to retrieve the missing data.
I have had it for 2 months and so far I am completely satisfied. It measures all the running dynamics that the watch (Garmin) does not, such as vertical oscillation, ground contact time, vertical ratio, ground contact time balance, and breathing rate. After the first time, it connects automatically as soon as you wear it. I will come back with a new review when I need to change the battery.
Update: I have had it for 12 months now and so far everything is good. I use it 1-2 times a week and so far the battery is at 80%. So, I see it lasting another 1-2 years until replacement.
Is there any reason for someone who has the Garmin HRM-Pro to purchase the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus? Only one. The new battery door, which is screwless and according to Garmin, is more durable than its predecessors. Unfortunately, the previous models had a serious construction problem. The screws did not have a "stop", so when it was time to change the battery (2032), if you tightened the screws too much or too little, there were two possibilities. You either cracked the plastic or lost the waterproofing. With the HRM-Pro Plus, there is no chance of causing damage even if you want to.
Now for the technical (for running) valuable information such as: pace and distance (you can activate it even off-road if you test it and it suits you, especially on a treadmill it is flawless if you do proper calibration), breathing rate, watts, steps per minute, stride length, vertical oscillation, ground contact time balance, etc.
For heart rate measurement compared to optical heart rate monitors of watches, there is no comparison. So for information for those who do not know, heart rate monitors use electrodes that press against the skin and essentially perform electrocardiography to obtain information from the heart's electrical activity by counting beats. The optical heart rate monitors of watches use photoplethysmography (light flashes on the skin and measurement of the amount of light scattered by the blood flow) and this has a delay in intense training.
Of course, you can connect the HRM-Pro Plus to a Bluetooth device (mobile, trainer, etc.). You can even start an exercise on your watch, leave it behind and continue with the belt. When you return, the belt synchronizes all statistics with the watch. It is convenient in the gym or where the watch is not convenient (kettlebells, boxing, etc.).
Pros:
1. Accurate measurements, tested in running, cycling, and weights.
Cons:
1. You generally won't find it on the internet, but in many people (including myself), where the belt is fastened, due to natural movements, it creates a cut on the skin as they have made it (over 1 hour of training).
2. It does not have a detachable transmitter. Do not expect it to last for years (wear from sweat).
3. Expensive.
Very good product. The measurements it provides during running are useful for improving our technique, especially for those of us who are not part of clubs where we can get advice. It is also useful for all activities where wrist pulse measurement does not work well. The watch helps to calculate training load better in those cases.
It's a shame that it only uses the extra sensors for running and only measures heart rate for all other sports. It could be a much better training tool.
The build quality is good, but I believe it will last about 1-2 years due to the rubber strap, which does not change and is worn out by training and sweat.
