That was it. The shoes became a sensation despite their high price of $65, by the standards of the time. Since then, the history of Nike itself has changed, Jordan emerged as the NBA Rookie of the Year and went on to have a huge career that we all know, the Jordans became collectible (some editions were released on Saturdays so that most people wouldn't be working and kids wouldn't miss school) and changed the status of sneakers both on and off the court.
