Too expensive for it's durability and lifespan. In 2-3 months it was not even close to the condition I bought. Now it is only for daily walking and nothing more.
After a year of ankle pain without knowing where it was coming from. I went to orthopedists, they prescribed physical therapy, I got orthopedic insoles after a plantar pressure test that I wore with a 30 euro shoe. The pain had disappeared and I was perfect. In my last session, the physiotherapist told me to get a very good Asics Kayano shoe because one foot doesn't have enough arch, overpronation. Well, I have been wearing them for 10 days. After an hour of casual walking, my soles burn, my heels go numb, and I feel like I'm being pulled backward, putting all the weight on my soles and metatarsals with my toes pointing up in the air. I started to feel discomfort again and I regret the 150 euros I spent on what was supposed to be a good shoe. Eventually, I replaced the insoles with the orthopedic ones I had, effectively spending a total of 250 euros (150+100 for the insoles), and it seems to be better already. If they break, I'll save myself the trouble of buying a simple pair from Admiral for 35 euros with insoles and won't bother with expensive shoes again. Plus, I wear size 44 and in the Kayano, I went for size 45, and my big toe hits the front. The fabric seems like it will make a hole in the next month. I wear them for an hour and think about when I will get home to take them off so my feet can rest.
EDIT: 7/10/2024
To my great surprise, they haven't punctured yet, which even my leather shoes did due to my large big toe. Also, they are not suitable for standing at all; after 5 minutes, my foot hurts and I feel the arch strangely going numb and getting tired. Only when I walk continuously does it not hurt, which cannot be the case. I wouldn't buy them again.
EDIT: 5/12/2024
They still haven't punctured at the front toe like all my other shoes did, to my pleasant surprise; I honestly didn't expect it. All my shoes, even leather ones, puncture at the front. I am starting to believe that those that puncture might be fake and not the originals. I can't explain it any other way. The ankle pain has gone away, but I don't know if it's due to the shoe since I always wore it with the orthopedic insoles. Anyway, a shoe with such fabric at the front turned out to be very durable, and I didn't expect that. I raised my rating by one star.
They are only good for walking... The foam in the heel is so hard that it doesn't absorb anything and the foam from the midsole onwards is so soft that again it doesn't absorb anything, you just sink in, I don't know what logic this has... I ran 20km and my knees were destroyed (I should note that I am a heel striker and 1.82m 80kg) for running they are terrible, for walking they are perfect.
Wonderful shoe. I have a slight overpronation and they helped me in running (but also in walking) to step correctly without the ankle rolling inward. Of course, they don't save you 100%, but compared to "neutral" shoes, I can now go comfortably without feeling intense strain on my ankles and knees.
I believe that this is not a shoe that should be worn by someone with a neutral foot, as they will feel the extra support in the arch excessively and it may cause them problems.
After running about 400-500km with them in 10 months (plus regular daily use for walking, office, etc.), I started to feel that they have lost some of their cushioning and they started to tire me. Note that I am 180cm tall and 80kg. So now I use them as a second pair when running in rain/mud, and they cover me just fine.
At the current 600km mark, the sole has started to noticeably wear out in the front part, and a corner has even come off. But this may be because I also played basketball with the shoes and put them through directional changes.
I see in other comments people mentioning holes in the fabric, etc. Mine still look like new with no damage to the inner or outer fabric, laces, etc. Any wear is only visible on the sole and midsole.
I consider them on par with the Guide 16, or maybe I prefer these because I feel they fit my anatomy a little better.
Having the ASICS Gel-Kayano 29 for a year, they are not worth more than 100 euros, and only if it's for the sole technology they offer, providing support and stability to the foot and being very lightweight. However:
1. After a short time, I had to change them because they were hitting my sides, costing an additional 30 euros.
2. It's unbelievable that a shoe that started at 200+ euros would start tearing on the sides, and in the same spots on both shoes. It's tragic, considering I had them for everyday walking
I bought them at the end of April after extensive research because I have an issue with my metatarsals, so that it doesn't squeeze or compress my foot, but also doesn't hit my little toe.
While it is a comfortable, lightweight, and convenient shoe for all uses, unfortunately, it developed a tear on the right one three months ago, and I thought maybe I caused it somehow. However, it also developed on the left one a month ago, while the right one has started to open up.
Disappointed with the level and value of the shoe. It is not worth its money and certainly does not have the quality I expected. As other users have mentioned, it shouldn't tear so quickly, not even with cheap ones.
Lightweight, comfortable, and with a nice feel on the foot, just like the previous Kayano models I had. What I noticed as a difference in this model is the more stable and snug feel it has as a shoe! It hugs the foot better and tighter!!
The shoe is great, it is comfortable and very soft, ideal for running. I really like it, it doesn't tire me at all for a 5 km run (jogging), the only negative is that I feel my foot sweating, now compared to the same shoes exactly but an older model!
I started with size 42.5 three years ago (26) and buying size 43.5 in number 29, I realized that it hits my toes in the front. It is a given that the foot expands, but I suspect that somehow the shoe's shape changes. Obviously, I have to go for size 44 and spend 180 euros, because that's how much I bought them for.
Incredible. Perfect support. I got them in size 110. I have wide feet and swelling. I even tried Babolat, which is for tennis and tightens with straps from everywhere, but no such sole and support in the step. Daily use. I will buy them again.
I bought them for €135 and wear them at work (7 hours a day). They are comfortable BUT they got a hole in the second month. I am disappointed with the quality of construction. I spent a lot of money and they broke in record time!
I have had them for 2 weeks and I bought them for 110 euros.
Compared to the Kayano 25 that I used to wear, it's like changing tires on a car.
Amazing feeling and nice, cushioned step.
After the nimbus, which left me completely satisfied, I decided to try the cayano as well. I have had these shoes for almost 2 months. They are extremely comfortable... BUT!! It is well known that Asics shoes wear out, my previous ones had holes after 2 years, but these ones had holes in the FIRST 2 MONTHS!!! I am very disappointed with the quality of construction in this particular shoe that I spent a lot of money on and they broke in the first month.... and the use I give them is only walking, I haven't put them through any hardship at all...
Awesome grip and quite comfortable with very good support on the foot. I consider it a must for people with wide feet. Half a size larger is necessary due to the form.
After many years of running only with boost, I switched to asics. The shoe is completely different in everything, from the cushioning, the reinforced arch, to the noticeable forward tilt it has. It is not as soft as boost, but it is definitely more stable. Overall, it is comfortable, but it requires adaptation (especially when transitioning from a different brand) because the cushioning is different. As for the weight that many claim, you don't even notice it. I will come back when I have run kilometers with it.
Purchase at 100 euros. The continuation of the amazing series and elevated level. Shoe for medium distances that requires endurance. Fabric that embraces the foot and keeps it stable in motion, with very good breathability. Tongue without elastic and heel with protection. Fantastic sole that helps you with every step with a soft, stable grip. Very good grip on all surfaces. The rebound is very good and helps you in times. However, it requires at the beginning for anyone who has not used a shoe with a tilted toe, because its toe has a large tilt. It is definitely a shoe that helps you a lot in running.
It is the only shoe that does not hurt my knee when I run. I do about 3 10km workouts every week, they last for 1 year. I use the old ones for everyday walking, ideal model for slightly heavy amateur athletes, they last for +700km. The cooperation with skroutz was excellent and fast.
It is an awesome sports product, especially for me who has plantar fasciitis. Every day, I run 6 to 10 kilometers on a treadmill for a year now. I highly recommend them.
Wonderful! I feel them like an extension of my foot. Solid grip and cushioning without exaggeration. At least for the first 50 kilometers that I've worn them.
I haven't gotten better running shoes in my life. Only ASICS. They're worth 100€ but I wouldn't pay more.
Update:
In the end, things are mediocre. The price is not worth the quality. At first, they were great. But then (within 3-4 months), there was a huge difference. The performance dropped completely and I have blisters. Unacceptable. Very comfortable but... also, be careful, they tear easily (even on the inside from the toes)
I bought it for 105 euros, very good shoe but I would recommend it more for running and not for everyday use! It is somewhat specialized for everyday use! There are cheaper shoes that have better performance for simple everyday use!
