I remember that, in the past, we used to pass daily by the Rapid Response center and, later, by the headquarters of the Hellenic Police and receive from the responsible officer the so-called "offenses and incidents report." This report contained all the incidents of the twenty-four-hour period, among which many were funny and strange. Quite a few of these "peculiar" incidents we would write in special humorous columns in the newspapers or magazines where we worked, and I can say that they were read with particular interest by the readership. So, I selected these amusing stories from my archive, and after processing them, I realized that they could be published in an interesting book for today's reader, who will be entertained, smell the aroma of an era, and perhaps understand human nature a little better.

In this book, which you are now holding in your hands, I have recorded over three hundred incidents, all of them real, from forty years of journalistic career, from the period 1970-2010. These are not just peculiar, amusing, and entertaining events that will simply lift your spirits and mood; in my opinion, they are also instructive, something I have aimed for not only in this but in all the books I have written to date. Without any intention of playing the teacher, I try to ensure that the reader benefits from the reading, so as not to become an easy victim of fraudsters and all kinds of criminals.
