In DC electric motors, at the point where the electric current is supplied to their rotating part, two brushes (also called carbon brushes) are used. Over time, due to friction, the brushes wear out and need to be replaced. For this reason, in recent years, brushless electric motors have been developed, which are far superior to a brushed motor.
