The child starts by learning the letters and how to write them, then matches the letter magnets with corresponding images of simple words, and finally practices writing the words on the board by following the pre-writing guide included in the booklet. I believe there are better learning games than this one. The child got bored very quickly. The card inside with the words, if the child writes on it, is hard to erase and write again with the special marker that comes with it. The same goes for the magnetic letters... after a certain point, the marks remain.
