  I got this because I couldn't find the Altec Lansing Hydra Boom or Hydra Shock, which are both monsters. The only downside is that it is very bulky and heavy (around 3-4 kilograms), while unlike the Hydra speakers that have wireless charging for the phone, this one only has a cable and no fast charge. It's not a big deal because I won't be charging my phone from there anyway.
  In terms of sound, it's a beast! We cranked it up to the max with some heavy Rammstein tracks and we couldn't even hear our own thoughts! The bass on the side is incredibly powerful, as if it's about to burst out! We're talking about that kind of intensity. Of course, it doesn't reach the power of a sound system, but if you want to throw a party with music and people, it's the best option. The battery life is great if you have it at a normal volume and without the lighting, but it will decrease if you increase the volume. It charges in about 5 hours with a type C cable and charger included in the package, and it can also be connected to a monitor or TV with a cable that has 3.5mm plugs on both sides. Unfortunately, it doesn't connect to the PS5 even though both are Sony products, probably due to Bluetooth technology, but it's a minor drawback. For its price, it's really good. I highly recommend it.

  I was torn between this and the equivalent JBL model, but what won me over was the jack output it had and its own charger. From the moment you open the package, you understand that it is an excellent product, carefully crafted in every detail. It has a very nice sound and it is very powerful, filling the space with music without overwhelming it. A nice detail is the light it has, which you can adjust with different programs and creates a nice atmosphere. As for the battery, with daily use and medium intensity, it lasts almost a week. I recommend it even though I don't have other Sony products.

  In the 300-350 euro range, the JBL Xtreme 3 is the consumer-friendly sound opponent. However, in the 170-200 euro range, it simply has no opponent in any category.

  If we exclude the cost from the equation, then it is slightly weaker than the Xtreme 3 and much stronger than the Charge 5. However, where it stands out is in the Bluetooth protocol, which is 5.2, LDAC hi-res, and above all, low latency. Now you can watch movies and videos via Bluetooth without any delay in sound and image, which is very important and something that no speaker under 400 euros has.

  It has a 3.5mm analog output. It can be charged via USB on devices. It has LED lights that I personally don't like, so I turned them off (but some people like them). It is waterproof, as is typical for most speakers in its category.

  It has incredible build quality. The fabric is of DALI quality, and the smart handle that you carry it with is FANTASTIC and elegant because it goes inside and nothing is visible, no hooks, bags, or straps.

  Now, regarding sound, when someone buys it, it comes with the default firmware, which has a warmer flat profile that reminds me of expensive speakers like Bowers & Wilkins, DALI, etc. However, because most people don't like the (correct) sound but prefer the excitement of a V-shaped sound, SONY released a new firmware with the number 3100 (which I tried) that gives the sound a V-shaped profile with a lot of bass and highs, similar to JBL. For most people, this is the sound they like: bass and clarity in the highs, eliminating the mids, vocals, etc. I adjusted it to my liking fortunately through the Android app and made it more realistic (muted) so that most people can understand it.

  So yes, I am completely satisfied with this particular speaker. I didn't like the previous Sony speakers, to tell you the truth, but this one is in a different class, even evident in its weight, plastic, fabric, and even the button presses.

  If it didn't have the Sony name, I would believe it's from Dali or B&W.

  PS. The DAC Amp is stereo, not mono like most under 200 euros. It does not do downmix.

  I expected more from Sony in terms of sound quality and volume, especially after all these years, but the speaker didn't sound good. Muffled and drowned sound. After the software upgrade with the new firmware 3100 in August 2023, the speaker has transformed and I have now given it 4 stars from the initial 2 in my first review. The Equalizer in the app is amazing, with all the settings dialed up to perfection!
