The windproof cap is made of stainless steel. It helps redirect air upwards when it moves horizontally and when there are downward or upward currents, it allows pressure to be released from the top or bottom of the cap, respectively.

Inside and above the chimney opening, there is an inverted cone with insulation inside, so that the exiting flue gases strike the cone and are redirected outward without liquefying. It also prevents water from entering during heavy rainfall.
