The windproof cap is made of stainless metal. It helps to direct the air upward when moving horizontally and when there are downward or upward drafts, it allows them to dissipate from the top or bottom of the cap, respectively.

Inside and above the chimney opening, there is an inverted cone with insulation inside so that the outgoing flue gases, upon striking the cone, are deflected outward without condensing. It also prevents water from entering during heavy rainfall.
