Description

Basic characteristics:

• Pickups: HSS

The electric guitar PAC-012 by Yamaha, Its pickups are passive, which consist only of the coil that "translates" the movement of the strings into an electric signal. This type of pickups is widely used and the most common compared to others.

The arrangement of the pickups equipped on the guitar PAC-012 is HSS, which describes the number, position, and type of the pickups. Specifically, the combination of the letters H and S stands for humbucker and single, respectively. For example, if we have an HSS pickup configuration, then the guitar has 1 Humbucker pickup and 2 Single coil pickups. Additionally, the order of the letters determines the position of the pickups, with the first letter representing the bridge position, the last letter representing the neck position, and the middle letter, if present, indicating the middle position. However, if the configuration has only one letter, then the pickup is usually placed in either the bridge or neck position.

Finally, the bridge, apart from the metallic frame, features a tremolo, which is a system of springs that allows you to move the entire bridge by manipulating a lever, in order to create special effects on the sound, as the name implies. Changing strings is more complicated, and the system needs to be adjusted by an experienced person to avoid losing tuning every time it is used.

Review after one week of use, not only from a beginner guitarist but also from a music teacher at a well-known music school in Athens! The guitar was purchased through Skroutz as a gift for my niece, and I have the following to say, which of course everyone can agree or disagree with. First of all, I was present when the friendly employee took it off the stand and tuned it as needed before connecting it to the amplifier and testing it by playing. He also explained some things about the sound controls and different types of music that can be played on it. After that, he cleaned it with a soft cloth because there was a little dust in some areas, and with a wipe, it became shiny. The Blue Dark Electric color is simply beautiful and stands out, as it is nicer than the other colors, especially unusual since most people choose red, black, or white. For the price of €185, compared to the official price of €216, and considering that it is made in Indonesia, it has excellent build quality. With a Stagg red strap for €5 and two picks that the store gave me as a gift, the total price of €190 is a bargain, considering it is a Yamaha, which whether we like it or not, is the biggest manufacturer of musical instruments on the planet. Now, everything the kids told me about it, the teacher also confirmed during the test. Meaning that for a beginner or an amateur, it is excellent and exceptional, and at least in the beginning, one does not need to spend any extra money because it would simply be unnecessary. And of course, it comes with a two-year warranty from the official dealership!
