After searching for various umbrellas, I ended up with this one. Basically, I was torn between the Maui and this one. I chose it because it doesn't have a recall and won't have the issues that the Maui has with the recall. It's a pretty good and high-quality umbrella with a very good shade due to the black coating on the inside. It was purchased along with a 28mm stake that fits perfectly inside the umbrella, and in combination with the three pegs with ropes, it is very well stabilized in strong wind.
Now, onto the negatives, I didn't like the case, as the fabric is very thin and it already made a small hole the first time I touched it against some pebbles. The fabric inside the umbrella has a small fray in one spot, about the size of a lens, which doesn't bother me, but due to the contrast it creates, your eye is drawn to it. The attachment points on the umbrella for the pegs are not properly distributed. In my opinion, it should have more or have a support every two ribs. In some areas, they are close together, while in others, for example, in a row of three ribs, there are none at all. The wind resistance is quite good due to the horizontal position of the umbrella, as it doesn't have the curvature that the Maui has, which I saw being pushed downwards in strong wind. However, the ventilation window it has is quite tight and doesn't provide good air decompression compared to the Maui, where the window is quite free. These are my observations for now, I will come back with more after various tests!
While it seemed to be well made, unfortunately, with just 1 use in Andros without any particularly strong wind, it acquired these 2 tears. What a shame
We had a Terra collapsible, and we wanted a bigger one. Lightweight, with all the accessories inside (ropes, etc.), it withstood winds on the beaches of Northern Evia that faced the Aegean just fine! Very satisfied with the shade, the size, and it seems also with its durability!
Great, lightweight umbrella but no resistance to wind. On the 2nd day of use, the ribs broke because it has no flexibility at all. I believe that the company that manufactures them should honestly state that it is not suitable for wind. Let's not throw away our 50 euros like that.
I got it two months ago. Just today, for the first time, there was a little breeze, it turned upside down, broke one of the little grips of a spoke, and all the others flew off, along with the cover and the fabric. Only the frame with the broken spoke remained. Terrible quality of construction. Yes, it can turn over from the wind, it happens, but not to fall apart like Lego and to be searching for pieces on the beach while you have paid €50 for an umbrella.
While it offers excellent shade and is incredibly lightweight and therefore easy to transport, after 2 summers this year the umbrella fell apart as it disintegrated in a gust of wind, even though it was secured with perimeter ropes. It really became a wreck while all the neighboring ones from another well-known brand suffered no damage.
By far the best beach umbrella! It's worth its money! I have it for a year now on an island where it reaches 7 Beaufort and several days of summer and it doesn't go anywhere with gusty winds. Buy it without fear!!!
In this case, you get what you pay for. After 10 years with a Terra umbrella - which eventually had to be replaced, this umbrella is the best choice.
Amazing shade, the "dome" created by the umbrella is not too high and the umbrella does not get blown away by the wind.
We used a base made of plastic filled with water and the umbrella didn't even budge from the wind - we just couldn't put the extension because it couldn't fit.
(I will invest in a sturdy pole next year)
The negatives are minimal, one socket for the peg was missing, but the umbrella was so stable that it didn't need to be tied down.
The fabric of the carrying case is very thin and I doubt it will last until next year.
Amazing simply, from shade, from money and in combination with a Golden Fleece umbrella, it really doesn't move even in 6-7 Beaufort, tested in Mykonos (the island of winds). Very extra ++ that it has inside and pegs with a cord to tie it.
IMPORTANT UPDATE
I now only give it 2 stars! After a year because I had it since September last summer. One week of use in Crete, I confirm the photos that show that the top part broke, I was able to put it back together. The fabric gradually started to show small holes, simply because the black lining started to peel off, resulting in losing its protection. Also, while it generally held up well in the winds and with rare tying with the pegs and ropes, in one gust of wind, it turned and half of the frame's joints broke, there is no chance of repairing it since the fabric tore from a piece of the frame. What can I say, it's a shame because it looked very good, right next to a Maui and Sons umbrella, the difference in quality was evident
Very good umbrella for its price with satisfactory shading. The positives are the small weight and size (length) when closed. The little pegs and strings for stabilization in the wind are very convenient (tested in moderate wind without any problem). More than enough for shading 2 people with their chairs. The negative is that the handle does not fold for retraction, which can be annoying in the afternoon when the sun is setting. In my opinion, it's worth its money.
