Description

The Discovery Channel informs, entertains, and inspires its viewers around the world with topics from science, technology, exploration, and history.

The Discovery optical instruments series is produced by Levenhuk and approved by the Discovery Channel.

At a glance:

  • Biological microscope designed for observing transparent samples
  • Telescope with a tabletop tripod for observing the Moon and terrestrial targets
  • Includes an experiment kit with more than 25 accessories
  • Includes the educational book "The Void That Is Not Empty"
  • Ideal set for familiarizing with optical instruments

This set, endorsed by the Discovery Channel, includes two optical instruments. The microscope will help you study the microcosm, while the telescope will introduce you to the world of Astronomy. The package also includes various accessories needed for your observations and experiments, as well as the educational book "The Void That Is Not Empty."

Refractor telescope with tabletop tripod

The telescope in the set is a refractor with an altazimuth mount and an aluminum tripod. With it, you can explore the starry sky, the Moon, various stars, and admire meteor showers.

This is an entry-level telescope that will help you get acquainted with space. With it, you will be able to see bright objects in the night sky and observe terrestrial targets. All necessary accessories are included in the package, so you won't need to purchase additional equipment.

Accompanying book

The accompanying educational book "The Void That Is Not Empty" offers an easy and effective way to gain basic knowledge of astronomy. It is written in simple and understandable language, without complex terms. In this book, you will find information on how telescopes work, as well as tips on how to organize your observations. Additionally, you will find valuable information about the Sun, the planets of the Solar System and their satellites, as well as comets, meteors, and distant stars.

The book "The Void That Is Not Empty" (147 color pages, 245x245 mm).

Biological microscope with lighting system

The microscope in the set is biological and suitable for studying transparent samples, as it has bottom lighting. The package includes some prepared samples, and you can also purchase additional prepared slides (sold separately). With the kit's tools, you can prepare and study thin sections of samples. You can even study a drop of water and the microorganisms within it.

The microscope's optics offer magnification in the range of 75-900x. The lighting system has a mirror on one side and an LED lamp on the other. If there is enough light, you can use the side with the mirror. If your observations take place in a relatively dark room, prefer to use the LED lamp (powered by standard batteries).

In the instructions, it does not say that you need to adjust the diopter during the day in order for it to work at night, and most importantly, the tripod is small and not convenient at all. Get a telescope with a regular-sized tripod.
