He has illustrated many graphic novels, including Neil Gaiman's Sandman, and for his work on The Mystery Play, he received the coveted Eisner Award. However, "his desire to explore his emotions as a new father" led him to engage in children's books as both an author and illustrator. Now multi-award-winning and highly productive, he even received a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators in 1999.
