I have always been fascinated by the stories behind the camera. From the time I, as a kid, climbed the wall of the neighborhood's summer cinema, to today when my good fortune brought me close to all those legendary actors who, like storytellers, recounted their backstage "feats" to me, sometimes vividly and charmingly, and other times touchingly and tearfully. What wonderful narratives, and what unforgettable nights I spent close to all those legendary actors who were part of my own dream!
So, behind the bright lights, microphones, clappers, and cameras, another "movie" was playing, perhaps more real, more human, and certainly more entertaining. These little backstage scenes are what I wanted to capture in this book and to tell you the stories as I heard them from the protagonists themselves, who whispered them to each other and had a lot of fun with them.
In the following pages, we will delve into the depths of the backstage of our own Hollywood and will be transported mentally to all those historic studios and sets, meeting familiar beloved faces, simple, everyday, without embellishments, lights, and makeup, just before they transform from ordinary mortals into bright mythical figures.
Red thread tied... And the stories of the backstage of Greek cinema begin...

At first, I was excited, but then it bored me because it didn't say anything substantial. Over and over again, the same stories that have been told on television. I also noticed some inconsistencies like Vougiouklaki being in Pelion and her assistant running to Volos to get a pregnancy test. Really now? A pregnancy test in 1969? It seems kind of strange. I only read it because I forced myself not to leave the book unfinished. Otherwise, I would have given up on it.
For true fans of old Greek cinema, there is nothing new. Personally, everything that the book contains, I had already read in articles or heard on various shows in the past. However, if someone hasn't delved into it much and is interested in learning, they should get it without hesitation because it is quite a quality work.
