Description
The Intel Core i9 12900KS processor is based on the Alder Lake microarchitecture (12th Gen) (2022). It features 16 cores with 24 Threads. More cores provide increased power for programs that take advantage of a larger number of cores. Threads allow the processor to run multiple applications simultaneously, completing tasks faster. Its maximum frequency reaches 5.5 GHz.
The integrated Cache memory is 30 MB. Cache memory is a very important feature because the larger it is, the less time the processor needs to retrieve data from the computer's main memory, significantly increasing performance.
It has Socket 1700 and will need to be housed in a motherboard with the corresponding Socket. Finally, a heatsink is not included. You will need to purchase a separate heatsink for the processor, which is essential.
The Core i9 12900KS is usually chosen by users for demanding Gaming, for heavy applications that fully exploit the processor's multi-thread capability, for CAD, image, video, and audio editing. It also has an integrated graphics circuit that can be used for light Gaming if your system does not have a stronger dedicated graphics card.
Processors of the "Alder Lake (12th Gen)" microarchitecture are designed to maximize performance in single-thread applications, such as gaming and 3D Design. Multithread performance is also offered for applications that fully exploit parallel processing (such as image rendering).

Reviews
The KS is identical to the 16-core, 24-thread Core i9 12900K that we loved so much, but about $200 more expensive seemingly because it has another 300 MHz overclocked to the boost clock. Yes, this is a binned version of the top-tier Alder Lake chip, with a maximum turbo speed of 5.5 GHz out of the box. No overclocking required. April 21, 2022
