The upgrade of the already successful vc4s has so far (3 days in my possession) charged decade-old batteries, but they are untouched in their box with zero charge from their mother. It remains to be seen... in a few days, I am expecting the new rechargeable ones (GP & eneloop).
It comes with a USB type-c cable and requires a quick charge 3 amp charger to perform correctly. During charging, it indicates how many milliampere-hours (mAh) are stored in the battery, and indicates how many mA it is charging (here there is an automatic selection that the charger will choose for the battery, or we can manually select between 5 levels: 3A, 2A, 1A, 500mA, 250mA).
Also, the indication of the battery's internal resistance is very important.
There is also a battery calibration function, a process that charges the battery, then discharges it and recharges it again... what surprised me is that it measures the capacity indication during discharge!
If it charged 1.5-volt lithium ions, I would say it is the ultimate amateur machine.
It came as authentic as I entered the unique code on the xtar website and it accepted it

This is the third Xtar charger I am buying; the previous two (MC2 the first and VC2S the second) work flawlessly after several years, about 6 and 3 respectively. In terms of quality, it is fine for its price category, but I really dislike the feel and material of the two buttons; they give a cheap construction feel, and you think the charger is....hollow. I suppose they could have used a foam material for a better feel, but it's not a significant issue. Also, I would like the red/green charging indicators to be MUCH more pronounced, as they are barely distinguishable unless you look at the charger from directly above, especially the red one, which you can only guess by seeing how many green lights are on! On the two side edges left and right of the screen, there are large air vents, so it neither heats up nor risks burning; just be careful with cleaning: do not push the dust inside. In my charger, the Type C port is relatively sensitive, and the charger must be stationary. Regarding charging, I have charged 18650, 20700, 21700, AA, and AAA without any issues; in fact, the AA and AAA did not need to be positioned at an angle. With the left button, you can adjust the Amperes (it has 5 options: 3A, 2A, 1A, 0.5A, and 0.25A), and with the right, you select the charger’s mode (it has 3 options: charging, calibration, and storage) by pressing and holding the button. Also, by pressing and holding the left button, you can turn off the display; I do this almost always because it makes the green/red lights slightly more distinguishable. At 3A, it charges only one battery; personally, I avoid charging above 1A for Lithium Ion batteries and 0.25A for Nickel Metal batteries for longer battery life. The manual states that it also charges Nickel Cadmium, but I haven't tried it. In charging, by pressing the right button, you have 3 sub-options: In the first, you see the Amps the battery has received; in the second, the Amps at which the battery is charging; and in the third, the IR which shows the internal resistance of the battery; the smaller the number, the better the condition of the battery. In calibration, it shows the battery's capacity. To calculate it, it does 1.5 cycles, meaning a full charge, discharge, and then charge again. I always use this function on every new battery to ensure it's not a fake and for smoother operation. In storage, it completely discharges the battery and recharges it to half capacity so you can store them. * In the calibration and storage modes, you cannot change the Amps; the charger decides that on its own.

As for the negatives, I only find the Type C port being relatively loose, but that might only apply to mine; I would like the red/green indicators to be much brighter and a very cheap on/off switch. * Xstar claims it can revive dead batteries; I haven't tried it and have no opinion. ** If a slot stops charging, remove the cable slightly from the charger and then reconnect it. This has not happened to me with this one, but with the VC2S, it solved the problem. *** If you put even one AAA for calibration, forget about the charger until it completes; you cannot charge anything. **** If you are interested in calibration, charge the batteries first; you will save A LOT of time.

EDIT: The charger literally does whatever it wants! Ignores the setting for charging at 1A and decides on its own, it charged the same battery at 2A and then at 0.5A, a little while ago I put a battery for charging and when I tried to see at what A it charges, it started showing that it is discharging (??!!) while it shows it as full. I don't know if it's a coincidence that it has now rendered two old batteries useless, I assume not. In any case, they had a high internal resistance due to age and frequent use and it didn't bother me much but... they were working.

It does exactly what it says. It charges correctly in all ranges (500mah - 3000mah).
I have been using it daily for 2 months now, 24 hours straight, always charging 18650 batteries for an electronic cigarette and it hasn't failed. The review is about the VC2SL.

It charges the batteries, but for about 17 euros I wouldn't have bought it if I had seen it more carefully or tried it. But how much time do you need to spend to get a charger?

I bought a VC2SL and a VC4SL because (wrongly) I thought that the VC2SL would be the most portable version of the VC4SL. (EDIT: I note that I am very satisfied with the VC4SL which I have also purchased).

However:
- It is too big (about 13cm X 6cm X 3.5 cm) to carry it with you in a small laptop bag.
- It is not functionally the same as the VC4SL since it does not offer any options. Everything is done automatically by the charger.

Regarding its function:
- It "grabs" the batteries well, although the positive pole slot does not seem very accurate and it has the ability to lift AA and AAA batteries slightly higher for ventilation.
- The charger itself did not heat up at all with what I have charged so far (up to 2A).
- It has a USB-C power input port which is very useful for portability.
- It works as a power bank but I have not yet tried lithium batteries and the ability to use it as such, but I will do so as it is the only use that justifies its size.
- It is so big that it is difficult to lose somewhere............

Problems I encountered:
- It overheated two brand new AAA Duracell batteries while charging them, not to the point where they couldn't be used but still (charging at 0.5A).
- It recognized a NiMH battery as lithium. I imagine it would have "cooked" it if it had remained that way, so with a little shaking, I changed its classification to the correct type. I note that this happened in the 2nd charging slot.
- The accuracy with which it displays the voltage is poor. Although I don't trust my voltmeter either, it does not show the same level of uncertainty as the charger's measurement. I am not referring to voltage readings that fluctuate between two values and can be explained: at the moment, in the 2nd slot, it shows a battery voltage ranging from 1.3 to 1.55V, playing with any intermediate values (1.45 and 1.5V).
- The 2nd charging slot is unstable. It has so far indicated that batteries were either fully charged or at zero voltage when neither was true.
- As there is a need to sometimes move the battery slightly to lose contact, in the end, you do not get an accurate measurement of its total capacity.

In the end, it has charged all the batteries I have put in it so far, with some reinsertions, so it is not a complete failure but I cannot have much confidence in it.

In the user instructions, it states that it accepts a charger up to QC3.0 (5V-3A or 9V-2A). I noticed that it charged some of my batteries up to 350mAh, for example, and then if I took them out and put them back in, it gave them another 800mAh! So in the automatic check, it does whatever it wants quite often. Also, I put a good Lithium battery in the third slot and it repeatedly did not recognize it. I put it in the first slot and it recognized it. Sometimes it gets stuck at the beginning of recognizing the battery and requires removing and reinserting the battery. It doesn't heat up much.
