Described as the "First The Lord of the Rings created for children and families," Aragorn's Quest prioritizes easy handling and cartoon-style graphics.

The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest is an Action/Adventure game, with the PS3 version supporting "Playstation Move." The setting is Middle-earth once again, as the well-known Hobbit, Sam Gamgee, awaits King Aragorn's visit to honor him for his participation in the War of the Ring. Until the King arrives, Sam narrates the story of the War and his adventures to his children.

The storyline closely follows the plot of the movies, presenting you with various missions to complete as King Aragorn, along with the Fellowship of the Ring. Along the way, you will encounter some old acquaintances, such as Orcs and Ringwraiths.

The gameplay mainly consists of melee combat, but also includes horseback battles. There is also a two-player co-op mode, with the second player using Gandalf to unleash magical attacks and "heal" Aragorn and his companions, although they do not control the wizard's movements.
