Whether you know "The Song of Achilles" or not, the 10th anniversary is a perfect opportunity to read a delightful book that went viral.
The new Anniversary Edition is released with enriched content:
Have you heard the whisper of the forest on an autumn night? Have they sung to you about war and love? Have you ever touched the body of a demigod with your fingers?
The young Patroclus disappoints his father and is exiled to the court of the king of Phthia. There, he grows up in the shadow of the dazzling Achilles, who has the power to change the lives of those around him and, according to prophecies, will become the greatest of the Greeks.
The two boys become friends and are sent to apprentice in the cave of the legendary teacher Chiron. There, their relationship blossoms, and they vow to stay together forever, but the Fates have woven their own plan.
Breathless messengers bring the message that a prince from Troy has stolen the most beautiful woman in the world. Now the kings must wash away the shame, and to do so, they need the spear and shield of Achilles.
The hero knows that to achieve immortality, the price will be heavy, but he believes that a song can deceive even the gods.
The greatest love story has just begun.

The story is well-known but told from Patroclus's perspective. Very nice writing, it left me with a bittersweet feeling. The best book I read in 2024, I recommend it.
I got this book as a gift for a well-known friend of mine who is a painter, and she has read a lot of books, is open-minded, and after so many positive reviews, I chose it. I even watched videos with analysis on YouTube.... I wanted her to like it. In the end, it didn't go so well..... As someone else wrote, it's like reading a Harlequin with male protagonists. She told me that it seemed exaggerated to her, but in any case, she read it. Of course, the whole thing is subjective. It has many positive reviews which can't be a coincidence, so I don't want to be negative.
I thought the Book would tell the life of Achilles and the Iliad through the eyes of Patroclus, like the gates of fire tell the life of the Spartans through the slave who was saved, but no, here we have a book where the author mentions on 3/10 pages that Patroclus is in love with Achilles, and at some points it feels like you are reading a Harlequin, in the name of commercialization they write whatever they want, and most rated it 5/5 without understanding the reason. Is it because it's a nice love story between two men?? It would be a fine book if it didn't remind me of a Harlequin
I couldn't read it. The commercialization of Ancient Greece, its values and way of life, has led many authors to distort or ignore many fundamental elements in order to sell their product.
Very interesting book, with an intriguing approach to all the characters of the Iliad. Excellent work by the author
I loved it, a wonderful literary approach for a love story that is still remembered after so many thousands of years.
Perhaps the best book I have ever read. From beginning to end, it offered me various emotions, mainly pleasure and emotion. It would definitely be the first book that would come to mind to recommend to someone.
This book is epic!!! So moving and realistic!! Years have passed since I read it and I still remember the sweet emotions it left me with.... If someone asked me to recommend a book, it would be my first thought.
It is one of the best books I have ever read. It is easy to read but at the same time it is also well-crafted. It is definitely a book that I would recommend you to read. The only thing that maybe bothered me was the first few chapters because I got a little bored. But from the moment they met and onwards, it was truly a rollercoaster of emotions. I highly recommend it, if you like historical books with a touch of the present era. I will definitely read it again and choose other books by the same author. I really thank the TikTok that made me buy this book. I don't regret it.
One of the best books I have ever read, it is touching but at the same time enjoyable to read.
Although I started it hesitantly due to having read best sellers that were not worth it, this one was absolutely justified. It has a nice flow with Patroclus as the protagonist this time, who describes to us the story of the Iliad through his own eyes.
It is truly indescribable how incredibly beautiful and enchanting it is. It takes you to another world, very descriptive but not at all tiring, and ultimately all it manages to do is create magical images through every word. I have always liked the story of Achilles and now I love it. But whether you liked the Iliad back in high school or not, you will love it with this. (Friendly advice: Good luck with the last page of the book)
I generally grew up with Greek mythology and mainly with Achilles, developing a special love for the hero, but I am sure that even if the same does not apply to you, you will love the book. Get it. It's worth it and more. As for the price, it's a steal!
From the books that when you open them you can't put them down until the end. Even then, you struggle. Wonderful!
Wonderful book, it takes you on a journey to the era of great epic heroes. Miller's lyrical writing makes the scene even more vivid and adds immediacy and liveliness. The characters are profound and multifaceted, with Achilles embodying the Homeric ideal. His divine nature is tempered by the human side of Patroclus, who functions as a catalyst. Every lover of Greek mythology is sure to love this new version of the famous story of Achilles.
