The new Penal Code (Law 4619/2019) was passed on 6.6.2019 by the Hellenic Parliament and became law of the State. It came into force on 1.7.2019. It was subsequently amended by Law 4637/2019, Law 4777/2021, Law 4855/2021, and Law 4871/2021. It replaced the Penal Code of 1.1.1951. Thus, after approximately 70 years of its application, we have a new legislative act, which, according to the Ministry of Justice and the accompanying explanatory report submitted to Parliament, aims, among other things, at modernizing criminal legislation. This edition includes all amendments up to Law 4855/2021 "Amendments to the Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure and other urgent provisions" (Government Gazette A' 215/12.11.2021) and Law 4871/2021 "Reforms in the legislative framework of the National School of Judicial Officers and other urgent provisions" (Government Gazette A' 246/10.12.2021).
