The advantage that brushless motors have over brushed ones is that they do not have friction since there are no carbon brushes. Without carbon brushes, the motors are more efficient and have a longer lifespan as there is no wear and tear (the carbon brushes in brushed motors wear out with use). This particular pump lasted me 8 months. I had it in a seaside accommodation to transfer water from the showers to the municipality's sewer. Reading the instructions, these pumps are not suitable for water with fine beach sand even though they claim to be for Sewage. The store toolflix AFOI G. DETSIKA OE sent it for repair and they REPLACED it immediately with a new one. 2 Stars for the product and 5 Stars for the Store! Well done!
Very good. I got it to empty a septic tank, it does a good job, lightweight and fast. And for an irrigation well, I worked it very well. It's worth it.
For 2 months now I have put it in a well for pumping clean water which sends it 80 meters away to water the plants, it is silent, you can't hear it at all, I really bought it for 99€ compared to what stores asked me for 280€, etc. I am doing my job perfectly, I highly recommend it without any reservations
After 6 months of operation, the pump worked extremely effectively. I am completely satisfied with both the quality and reliability of the Makita.
First, I would like to emphasize that it was installed in an 80cm X 80cm X 80cm well. The total depth of the well in relation to the ground is about 1.5 meters. After the thin nozzle of the pump was cut, a 50-meter long hose was placed without any slope (it simply lifts the water vertically 1.5 meters and then goes horizontally without any slope for the rest of the route to reach the basement). In order to minimize water resistance and prevent the pump from struggling, the 1 1/4" diameter hose is approximately 20 meters long, while the rest is of a larger diameter.
The pump worked continuously when needed, without any issues. I went daily on days of heavy rain to check the well and the pump. I was amazed, I saw water coming out with pressure from the bottom of the well. Of course, as the water level rose inside the well and equilibrated with the underground streams, the pressure would stop and it would take several minutes for the well to fill up. However, as soon as the level reached the point where I had set the pump to activate, it worked flawlessly.
Bravo, and bravo again.
Excellent quality, quiet and powerful. I pump everything, including water with leaves and mud (not recommended as it is not within the specifications), it doesn't notice anything. I have stored it outside for 2 years and every time I need it, it works reliably and hard for hours.
For the cost, I expected it to be better! It showed a problem with the cable and I went to fix it after minimal use!
The review concerns the Makita PF1010 pump (the plastic one, not the inox one). I bought it in November 2017 (81 euros) fearing heavy rainfalls and floods. Finally, today (2 years later - just 4 days after the 2-year warranty expired), I had to use it for the first time after a heavy rainstorm that flooded the drains in Macedonia.
As soon as the water reached 5 centimeters away from entering a small storage shed where we keep electrical appliances, it triggered an alarm bell. So, I connected the pump to a 30-meter spiral hose with a diameter of 1&1/4 inches and placed it in half a meter of water.
It had to pump a lot of water from the entire plot (which slopes towards the shed) and literally saved us from damages and filth for many days. In fact, I hadn't even cut the plastic adapter (which has a smaller diameter of 1 inch), so it would have pumped with even greater intensity.
The specifications state that, under certain conditions, it can pump up to 14.5 cubic meters per hour - I believe it's achievable!
Its operation is completely silent, it can draw water up to 4 centimeters below the surface of the ground. There were no leaves or debris, but that could have been solved if we had placed it in a plastic frame like the ones used by greengrocers.
And just from this one use, it paid off the purchase!
*Update March 2022: After approximately 3 years since I took it out of the box and a maximum of 20 hours of total operation (15 uses x 1.5 hours), the pump tripped the safety switch and stopped working. I will seek a service and will come back with the technician's diagnosis. *The pump was not permanently submerged in water. After each use, I would take it out, let it dry, and store it.
I visited a technician who specializes in pumps, and upon seeing the type of pump without opening it, he told me the following: The cable of the float switch that gives the command to start has been cut in the winding or at another point. He could have dealt with it (it would have cost around 20-30 euros), BUT because the whole system is "fixed," it would not have good sealing and would eventually cause a short circuit, leading to the best-case scenario of the power safety switch tripping, and even the risk of electric shock! So, I threw it away and went for something else.
I deduct one star from the review because while it worked, it was very powerful and served me well. Seeing the comments, I realized that the issue it had also occurred to another user. Unfortunately, Makita products are now made in China, with all that this entails...
While searching for a new pump, I saw that everything is Chinese-made, so I chose the exact same model. I bought the PF1010 again for 93 euros. The warranty was one year, but if you register it on Makita's official website, they give you an additional 2-year warranty. So, a total of 3 years!

In 9 months, I used it 2 times and it paid off.
I submerge it at 4.5 meters in a 5-meter well with a thin steel wire securely attached to the handle with U-bolts, as required to prevent the power cable from being damaged.
I pump kitchen waste from three apartments in 40 minutes.
I discharge the water into the sewage system at a distance of about 15 meters, horizontally with a lot of pressure, the hose is curled in some places.
I had doubts about impacts due to adverse usage conditions it was intended for.
In the end, the durable Makita plastic quality met this parameter.
