    The side pockets are for large military water bottles. The smaller ones float, so you need to secure them with a rope and clip to prevent them from falling. The material is sturdy, but not for city and daily commuting because you sweat easily when it comes into contact with your back. Of course, I didn't get it for that reason, so it doesn't bother me. But the pocket for water bottles is a downside.
