A good day is evident from the morning. I bought a double kit for use in a large 240sqm maisonette. It replaced two decent Tenda routers that were connected to the main router-modem of Wind via Ethernet and covered each floor with a dual-band network, each with satisfactory coverage. However, there were some coverage holes on the balconies, and when changing floors, one would get stuck on the network of the initial floor and essentially be left without coverage, so one had to manually switch to the network of the floor they were on each time.
So, I placed each deco in the positions of the old Tenda routers and connected them through the Mesh with the existing Ethernet cable, as I mentioned earlier. The installation took 5 minutes, and another 5 minutes were needed for the firmware update of the deco, which was prompted as soon as it connected to the internet.
With the X50 double kit, all malfunctions and coverage holes are finally eliminated. Very good signal everywhere and amazing coverage. No interruptions in video calls on WhatsApp and Messenger... with impeccable video quality. The speed test showed a consistent 98 to 100 Mbps download speed (with a 100 Mbps Wind line). Even on the balcony, where I used to have to open the window to get a signal, I now have uninterrupted coverage. This kit is worth every euro, and you finally stop dealing with the Wi-Fi in your home.
Highly recommended!
Update 22/8/2023
While everything was going well, suddenly all the DECO units turned on a red light. The main unit did not have internet access, although the Nova's ZYXEL had a functioning internet connection. However, when I opened the Wi-Fi of the Nova router, my mobile phone took a long time to connect and displayed the message "checking internet connection quality" for an extended period. I tried changing several cables and LAN ports in the connection with the ZYXEL, but the problem persisted. However, when I took the main unit and connected it to another house, it had a normal internet connection!
I tried to report the issue to Nova, but I didn't get any resolution, although I believe that there might be a problem with the Nova router, and I hope they will replace it at some point. Unexpectedly, the solution came when I changed the mode from router to access point. All the DECO units connected properly, including a third DECO (X55) that I recently added for better coverage on the balconies. I still can't understand what was ultimately causing the issue... Maybe interference or disturbances that were affecting the main DECO and preventing it from providing a stable internet connection? Was it ultimately the fault of the Nova router? What can I say? Strange things...
Update 14/9/2023
I switched to a different internet provider and installed Cosmote, so the equipment changed as well. They installed the black Speedport plus 2, which has nothing to do with the Nova's ZYXEL... As if by magic, everything started working perfectly. Excellent internet, which is relayed by the DECO units as either a router or an access point, with 100% coverage everywhere.
