Description
"Antistixi: the art of combining two or more voices over time, in order to create a polyphonic form.
Or: the art of manipulating a regulatory system of combinative relationships, through which the whole is composed of its elements."
It is perhaps natural for a book with the central theme of antistixi in architecture and music composition - as taught for six years (2004-2010) in the elective course of "Compositions" at the School of Architects of the NTUA - to apply antistixi methods in its own structural composition. The five different - but also collaborating - "voices" of the teachers-authors are in an antistixi relationship. Each one with its own theme and the specific way in which it is processed and presented.
Through antistixi relationships, the flow of these central texts is also regulated with that of the images, their explanatory comments, the musical pieces contained in the CD, and finally, excerpts from recorded dialogues or monologues, which were made with the participation of the students, during the course in the classroom - which is always the less publicized part of any educational process.
