Description

On the southern edge of the White Mountains lies the anthropogeographic unit of Sfakia. The characteristic of this zone is the large and impressive gorges, the most famous being the Gorge, as the locals call the renowned Samaria Gorge. The road network is quite limited, and there are still coastal settlements that are only accessible by sea. On the other hand, the network of trails is particularly rich and includes both short hikes (such as those around the settlement of Loutro) and long and demanding ones (such as the one connecting Agia Roumeli with the town of Sfakia or the ascents to the peaks of the White Mountains). The back side of the map includes a detailed guide for hikers with numbering and commentary on the routes, for which distance and elevation difference data are also provided. The map is laminated on both sides.
