Crossroads between Europe and Asia, Asia Minor experienced the influence of different ways of life and culture. Its coastal areas, both Aegean and Pontic and those of Propontis, are open to external contacts. In contrast, its inland areas are distinguished by the cultivation of large estates, the Latin latifundia.

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that, all things considered, the differentiation between these areas runs through the entire history of Asia Minor and, in some way, continues to this day. Asia Minor, whether coastal or inland, marked the fortunes of Hellenism in an indelible way, as the heart of eternal Romiosini.
