They are made of thick material for heavy use. I wore them with crampons. They have rubber to prevent slipping on the foot. They are waterproof because the material is plastic with nylon. So the major disadvantage is that they have no breathability at all and the pants get soaked from the moisture of the foot. However, it is a fair purchase for heavy-duty use

I used them for hiking at 2100 meters in mixed terrain (mud-dirt, rocks, and snow, where the foot sank up to 40cm). They did their job. I would maybe like them to be a little lighter.
