And when animals or vehicles appear. Smart notifications can also inform you if there's an animal or vehicle, so you can decide to act or ignore.

It is an excellent product that works flawlessly both on Amazon and mainly in the Google ecosystem for full utilization. BE CAREFUL to save you from a serious bug that the Nest with battery has. If you plan to use it only with power supply, the battery version has a very well-known problem that everyone in the Community knows about. If you have a Nest Aware subscription (requires a USA account), the CONTINUOUS non-stop recording feature is not supported because the battery draws more power than it receives from the supply, and when many people or cars pass in front of the house, the battery runs out even if it is connected to the power supply!!! The 12-hour recording feature on the battery model has been disabled by Google for this reason. This bug also occurs if you set it to full resolution and night vision; the battery runs out even if it is connected to the doorbell's power supply.
However, don't despair if you want a Nest doorbell because the Google Nest WIRED WITHOUT THE BATTERY is finally available in the Greek market. The wired version is class superior and a bit more expensive than the battery version but flawless. The battery edition has interruptions because over the years the battery drains, and the voltage of the old doorbell is not enough to keep it on, so it shuts off at random moments, forcing you to have lower resolution and less recording time to avoid the risk of it shutting down. If you want a permanently connected doorbell, the wired edition is the only option; it wasn't available in Europe until recently, and after a lot of complaints from all of us, it was imported to Europe. If you don't mind having only a power supply, do not buy the battery edition for any reason!!!! The only ones I recommend it to are if there is no external power supply from the previous doorbell, so you are forced to deal with charging and recharging with the aforementioned continuous recording features disabled and in high-traffic neighborhoods, the sensitivity lowered, otherwise the battery will die in record time.
As for features with a Nest Aware subscription, they do amazing facial recognition, package detection, animals, etc., with great accuracy and even announce who is outside, but to enjoy them, get the wired edition. It keeps faces in memory, and you name them, and the next time it detects them in the area, it will announce through Google Assistant, e.g., "Nikos is at the door." It also detects animals and packages when the mailman arrives and tells you!!! Although I mentioned it before, I will repeat it: do not make the mistake of getting the battery edition if there is power supply from the previous doorbell; you will shed black tears after about six months if it doesn't disappoint you from the first day because there are not as many features as in the wired edition..... The worst part is that even if we make a workaround to bypass the battery and connect directly to the power supply in this model, it is also a limitation of the software from Google's side. Unfortunately, when I bought it, the wired edition had not been imported for many years and was only available in the USA, so I got stuck with the limitations I realized after connecting it... Who would imagine that a camera continuously connected to a power supply would shut down due to the battery.... Also, if you don't have a power supply and you will put attention, the transformer must be AC; otherwise, it will burn it out or not work properly after some time. I found a 220v DC to 16-24v AC transformer from an old base for a halogen lamp. If you have difficulty finding a transformer or your old bell outputs DC or below 12 volts, ask at electronics stores, and if they don't have a transformer, mention a base for a halogen lamp, and 90% of the time, the transformer will fit. (Of course, make sure it does not exceed 16-24v before purchasing and that it is AC).
I have had it for about a year, the doorbell is okay. It does not have any issues like I saw in the comments on Skroutz, where it disconnects and requires a factory reset. It is permanently connected to WiFi and I charge it once every 2-3 months. I would like to be able to adjust the volume of the doorbell separately from the sound on your Google Home/Nest. But I would not recommend it because it only saves events that happened 3 hours ago if you do not have a paid subscription, and the image quality is quite mediocre. Also, it takes a while to load the events that happen in real-time, meaning if I open it because I received a notification, it can freeze and take 2-3 minutes to see what it has saved.
Quite expensive for what it offers! It disconnects frequently, often appearing disabled on the app, which prevents me from viewing online or performing any actions through the application. To fix it, you have to do a factory reset, and if you have connected it with cables, you have to unplug them all. Also, it often happens that they press the doorbell and it doesn't ring. The other ones that cost 80 euros do the same job. I regret spending 200 euros on this
Very nice doorbell. I connected it to the 12V of the common power supply for the doorbells (which the old one was also connected to) so it doesn't use its battery. I removed the internal doorbell because when it rings, it hits the Google Mini in the house and I can hear it.
The connection with Google Home was very fast, although for some reason it didn't show me live feed unless the doorbell rang, which was resolved by deleting the device from my home in Google Home, doing a factory reset, and reconnecting the device to my Google Home.
The camera has great quality day and night.
Inside the packaging, there is also a 20-degree angle for the camera base, although it would be good to have a 45-degree angle as well, but the 20-degree angle makes a difference.
It records sound as well.
You can even talk through it.
It simply keeps the last 3 hours if you don't have a subscription, so if you don't have data, the notification to see who is at the door after 3 hours is lost.
You can download the recorded videos because without a subscription, they are lost after 3 hours, but with a 30-day subscription, they are stored in the cloud.
I am very satisfied so far and I highly recommend it 1000%.
If you are in the Google ecosystem, it is the best possible choice for greater and faster automation. There are 2 options: a) battery b) connection to an existing doorbell wiring so you don't need to charge it (once every 4 months on average depending on usage).
Very nice design, slightly lower resolution than the previous generation, but this is mainly done for local storage and processing instead of the cloud. The result is fast notifications (with short video in push notifications), immediate display of camera image on Google Nest Display, and easier navigation in the events history.
If you want more than 3 hours of history, you need to go with a Nest Aware package (you must declare a non-Greek address), which is a one-way street if you need nighttime recordings.
It only works through the Google Home app (no longer the Nest app), has settings for recording zones, sensitivities, motion detection, packages, people, animals, and vehicles, while there are also battery-saving scenarios.
If the doorbell is installed on a side wall compared to the door (common configuration in apartment buildings), you may need a greater tilt than the wedge included in the package, there are special Wasserstein products available online.
Finally, make sure before final installation that there is good wifi reception at that spot and it is not obstructed by a wall. I recommend placing some kind of extender near the device for faster response.
In case someone is looking for a good digital door "eye", I highly recommend it. The camera is crystal clear and has high resolution even in low-light conditions. It detects motion with the slightest movement, as well as recognizing cars, animals, and packages. Notifications come to your mobile in the form of small GIFs so you don't always have to check the app to see the entire snapshot. It can review up to 3 hours of historical video with the ability to download all videos to your mobile. The nest aware service is worth it, but it is NOT supported in Greece.
I give it 4 stars because the new version has lower resolution than the original Nest model. Other than that, the installation is extremely easy and the battery, in the one week that I have it, has only lost 5%, which means that the autonomy is not a problem. Of course, it also depends on how much "action" the camera sees. If, for example, you place it in a crowded place, then the battery will definitely last less.
Other than that, I am very satisfied, the integration with Google Home is excellent and the notifications come instantly.
In my opinion, anyone who buys cameras and doorbells from Google should pay the £5/month subscription to Nest, as this way they will have 24/7 recording in the cloud, as well as the other services (e.g. familiar faces, etc.).
To activate the Nest service in Greece, simply provide an address in England. It doesn't matter if it's not yours. It requires a little more research as it is not supported in Greece, but it works fine.
