Greg Heffley and sports just don't mix. However, his mom is pushing him to make an effort and join a basketball team. At the tryouts, Greg performs terribly and is sure he won't be chosen, but, quite unexpectedly, he ends up getting a spot on the worst team.

As Greg and his new teammates start the season, the chances of winning even one game are slim. But in sports, anything can happen. When everything is on the line and the ball is in Greg's hands, will he rise to the occasion or miss his big chance?
