Reviews
Very good nvme.
It is worth buying, especially during this period where prices are clearly decreasing for ssd/nvme/ram.
It was purchased 1-1.5 years ago (price was 69€ back then for 512GB). It was installed in a laptop that did not have PCIe version 4.0 but 3.0, with the prospect of being used in the future on a next-generation interface motherboard. In a PCIe 3 interface, it still reaches the maximum possible read/write sequential speeds (3000-3500 MB). Its speeds are also high in reading/writing small or very small files. It also has a good controller. Ultimately, software is provided for firmware updates/health checks/benchmarks.
The built-in heatsink, although inferior to aftermarket ones, definitely does the job compared to other nvme drives at a similar price, without this specific provision. I have not seen excessive temperatures during use in any case, even during benchmarks/stress tests (so the card does not "throttle" its performance due to overheating). Additionally, it is particularly convenient that it is ultra-low profile, so it can fit in most laptops or even desktop motherboards without their own heatsink.
The health status, according to specialized software, remains very good, despite over 1 year of use with several writes, which implies, among other things, good quality NAND flash (not QLC).
It is recommended for purchase, with only one reservation that does not concern this specific model but the manufacturer's policy. In the past, ADATA had a tendency to change for the worse over time the components of the nvme drives (NAND/controller) it sold, depending on the prices it sourced them and their availability. Therefore, it would not hurt to search the internet for this specific model before purchasing, to determine based on reviews/news whether something similar to what happened in the past with the SX8200 Pro is happening.
