Description

In a distant land, beyond the boundaries of the world we know, live the guardians-protectors of our dreams. There, Ersi will be born, whom some will consider inferior because of her differences, and who will become a legend when the oldest law of the land, which forbids the Dreamkeepers from dreaming their own dreams, is violated for her sake. And when a black darkness covers the land, the Dreamcatcher, its protective net, begins to tighten, and the Dreamkeepers start counting failed flights. The old prejudice that divides the land into the "Capable" and the "Inferior" begins to take on uncontrollable dimensions, and our heroes seem to have no choice but to fight not only against the Nightmares but also against Fear and anything else that kills dreams. An exciting allegory with cinematic suspense about the right to diversity and dreams. They wrote about the book Dreamkeepers: It is a timeless book, it has universality and globality. Eugenios Trivizas (minutes of the State Award committee) Lyricism and nerve: this is how one would briefly describe the idiosyncratic mark of Angeliki Darlasi. [...] The second book continues the small masterpiece that the first "Dreamkeepers" (2004) were. Reading the sequel, I find it difficult to choose which I prefer (after all, I could never choose any of the seven Harry Potter books as better than the others). The quality of the global narrative that Eugenios Trivizas, president of the Committee that awarded the first book, had pointed out is unmistakable here as well. Maria Topali, KATHIMERINI https://www.kathimerini.gr/culture/499840/kleinontas-to-mati-sta-paidia/ The Dreamkeepers! A modern fairy tale that does not differ from the real world, with strong and powerful people and the weak living on the margins. The author transports us mentally to a fantasy world with elements from reality and strong symbolism. The book immediately wins over younger and older readers. Dora Pouri, elniplex https://www.elniplex.com/οι-ονειροφύλακες-της-αγγελικής-δαρλά/ [...] Then it was in a youthful room that I read "free passage of dreams" and heard a young man say "our dreams are slowly dying." [...] And during a discussion at a school, a child almost demandingly told me: "There must be dreamkeepers. Otherwise, our dreams are in danger of being lost forever." Angeliki Darlasi, interview with Giorgos Kiousis, Eleftherotypia They wrote about the book The Dreamkeepers and the Lighthouse of Dreams: Fear, but whatever kills dreams, is what the heroes of Angeliki Darlasi's new book try to overcome. In a bleak era, where the dreams of the young are slowly dying, this book seems like the soundtrack of a generation that, before even reaching adulthood, struggles to find its way in the sky, on Earth, in the universe. Thaleia Karamolegou, AVGI https://www.avgi.gr/arheio/56594_tria-xorkia-gia-ton-fobo?amp Lyricism and nerve: this is how one would briefly describe the idiosyncratic mark of Angeliki Darlasi. [...] The second book continues the small masterpiece that the first "Dreamkeepers" (2004) were. Reading the sequel, I find it difficult to choose which I prefer (after all, I could never choose any of the seven Harry Potter books as better than the others). The quality of global storytelling, as noted by Eugenios Trivizas, president of the committee that awarded the first book, is unmistakable here as well. It is a – charming in conception and execution – fantasy story that continues in the magical world of the Dreamkeepers. Darlasi's narrative quality is evident here too, as the gentle and contemplative tone alternates with sharp phrases, and the linear narrative is enriched with a prologue and an epilogue of theatrical structure, reminiscent of the corresponding parts of the first book. The linguistic beauty undulates in unsuspecting phrases [...] Thus, by winking at the children, they are taught what style means. Darlasi knows this, as few do. Maria Topali, KATHIMERINI https://www.kathimerini.gr/culture/499840/kleinontas-to-mati-sta-paidia/ The ability of people to dream, free thought, free from fear, thought that creatively transcends boundaries is a condition of life for the author. Her answer to the questions posed by Langston Hughes' poem seems to be "all these things will happen if you postpone a dream, so it is urgent NOT to postpone them." [...] The conception is strong, unforgettable. Every dream of yours has a guardian up there, striving to save it, to make it fly as high as possible, to protect it from the Abyss. Strong are the images of this otherworldly city that nevertheless accurately reflects the weaknesses of human society. The only solution is faith, action, resistance to fear and fanaticism, courage, and a clear mind. To become the Dreamkeepers of our dreams ourselves. [...] Scattered thoughts on a series of topics such as who is a good leader or a good teacher function as "lighthouses of dreams," as the title says. As lighthouses for a society that can give wings to dreams. Intense lyrical tone, emphasis on atmosphere, colors, chiaroscuro, all lead to the enjoyment of detail, to a slow reading, even though the plot is tightly woven and solid.
