In 1825, during the Greek-Turkish War, the English adventurer Trelooney discovered a hidden unimaginable treasure in the mountains of Kafiristan, an area along the Russo-Afghan border. Under the pretext of helping Greece, many “gentleman adventurers” flocked to Messolonghi to participate in the battles, intending to move into Turkish, Persian, and Russian territories.

Their goal was to reach Kafiristan and seize the treasure of Alexander the Great. Many were murdered by bandits of the Afridi tribe, while others met their end in a horrific prison known as “The Golden House of Samarkand.” In this story, we will reunite with Corto Maltese and several of his friends, during a period filled with tumultuous events in the history of Western Asia that involved the entire planet.
