Reviews
It does what it promises. If you can't find another solution for a full body adapter, it is recommended.
Used to upgrade SSD on MacBook Pro (Retina) 13" A1502 in combination with Samsung 970 Evo Plus.
The whole process took me some time and I hope the following report will help others:
In the description, it says "May not be supported by Samsung 970 Evo Plus...", however, with the latest update from Samsung, it has the correct firmware 2B2QEXM7 pre-installed. Samsung's website even has a newer firmware update available today (4B2QEXM7), but it doesn't allow installation since it's not necessary.
With a simple Google search, there are several guides available. MacRumors helped me with a forum titled "Samsung M.2 970 EVO Plus firmware upgrade problem solved".
Overall:
- I see a difference from the OEM SSD, however, don't expect speeds higher than 1000-1500 MB/s Read and Write speeds, as it is not supported by the motherboard chipset (at least for MB Pro A1502). So, even if you find a lower speed SSD, I believe you will still be at the same level.
- I recommend changing the thermal paste of the processor and cleaning the fan while you're at it. Instructions can be found on iFixit.Positives:
- It works
- It's okay for the moneyNegatives:
- It's not from Sensico as shown in the photo. It's a no-name brand. (-1 star for misleading information)
- It doesn't fit perfectly. The back of the adapter has a notch for the screw included in the packaging, which is necessary as the height increases with the new SSD (in the photo, it's the point that says 2280). The body of the adapter is flexible, so it fits by creating a slight curve (something I wouldn't want)...Overall, if I had more time, I would spend more money on an adapter and less on the SSD
Translated from Greek ·Did you find this review helpful?- Slower than the original SSD even with a very fast SSD on top.
- It seems to be well built and has easy installation.
- The screws didn't fit exactly on my model (macbook pro mid 2015, 13.3").
- For those who say it doesn't read the disk, it's a software issue, just before you do the update, upgrade to the latest macOS system and you will see the disks normally. (If you see an old version of macOS on reboot, it means something went wrong).Translated from Greek ·Did you find this review helpful?STAY AWAY FROM THIS. I bought this product and it doesn't recognize any disk. I wanted it for an older Mac. I had bought a 970 evo, it was useless. I also bought a crucial P1, nothing with that either. In the end, I got the OWC Aura Pro X2 480GB and it did the job for me.
Translated from Greek ·Did you find this review helpful? It does what it promises! Nice product, it arrived immediately. I paired it with the Samsung 970evo SSD and it reaches speeds of 1300/1500, compared to the 600/700 speeds of the Apple disk.
