Doxycycline for Birds

PROPERTIES: The drinking solution TABERNIL DOXYCYCLINE contains as its sole active ingredient doxycycline, a bacteriostatic antibiotic from the tetracycline group. Its antibacterial action is due to the binding of chelating compounds to the 30S subunit of ribosomes with the phosphate groups of messenger RNA.

MICROBIAL SPECTRUM:

• Gram (-) bacteria: Pasteurella spp., Escherichia coli & Salmonella spp.
• Gram (+) bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp. & Clostridium spp.
• Mycoplasma, Rickettsiae, Chlamydia, and some protozoa.

COMPOSITION: Doxycycline (hiclate) 100 mg, excipients q.s. 1 ml.

INDICATIONS: Treatment of respiratory or digestive system infections caused by the aforementioned microorganisms. Treatment of chlamydia.

SPECIES FOR WHICH THE PRODUCT IS INTENDED: Canaries and ornamental birds.

DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION: Administered with drinking water for 5 consecutive days at a dose of 5 ml for every 1.5 liters of water. The water with the solution must be prepared daily.

In the case of chlamydia treatment, administer directly 0.5ml/kg of body weight, twice a day, for 45 consecutive days.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not administer to animals with sensitivity to tetracyclines.

ADVERSE EFFECTS: Cases of photosensitivity have been reported.

INTERACTIONS: Avoid administering with calcium and/or iron supplements during treatment.

STORAGE: Keep the vial tightly closed, in a cool and shady place.
