Detailed information about the power strip according to the label it had after purchase (the label has been removed in some photos for aesthetic reasons).
Brand: GEYER
Model: GABKDS06
Electrical Characteristics:
Maximum Power: 3500W
Current (Amperes): 16A
Voltage (Volts): 250V ~ 50Hz (frequency 50 Hz)
Safety Features:
T3: Refers to a type of surge protection.
Uc (Device Voltage): 255V ~ 50Hz
Uoc (Maximum Surge Voltage): 6.0kV (for L-N and L/N-PE)
Up (Impulse Voltage): 1.5kV (L-N)
2.0kV (L/N-PE)
The power strip includes: a relay with manual reset capability, thermal fuse, surge protection indicator light, on/off switch, 6 sockets, and a 1.90-meter 2.5mm² VDE cable.
Surge protection from the D.E.H. network at 250 Volts. The indication of 6.0kV (6000 Volts) on the power strip indicates its maximum resistance to surges that may occur from phenomena such as lightning. These surges are called impulse voltages and are common in electrical networks, especially during storms.
Source of surge: Lightning can cause instantaneous surges in the network that reach levels of thousands of Volts.
Product durability: The product is designed to withstand surges up to 6000V, ensuring the protection of the equipment connected to it.
Relay and thermal fuse:
The power strip contains protective mechanisms such as a relay and thermal fuse, which are critical for the safety and operation of the power strip.
Overload and surge relays. A relay is a switch that operates electromagnetically. In electrical devices like this one, the relay can:
Automatically disconnect the circuit in case of overload or surge.
Act as an automatic protective mechanism against surges.
Provide automatic power cut control to protect the equipment.
Surge and overload protection relays: activate automatically when a surge is detected from lightning or when a surge is detected from the D.E.H. network and disconnect the circuit to protect the connected devices.
When an overload of the power strip is detected, the relay automatically disconnects the circuit to protect the connected devices.
Thermal fuse for overload and surge. If the temperature of the thermal fuse exceeds a predetermined safety limit due to overload or surge and due to its connection with the relay, the relay disconnects the circuit to the devices.
The thermal fuse along with the relay disconnects the operation of the power strip and the devices when the power of the power strip exceeds 3,500 watts to prevent overheating of the power strip, prevent short circuits, damage, and fires.
When heated above a safety limit, the thermal fuse and the relay drop due to overload or surge, then the thermal fuse must cool down to allow the relay to be manually reactivated.
Certifications:
CE: Declaration of conformity with European Union standards for safety, health, and environmental protection.
GS (Geprüfte Sicherheit): Certificate guaranteeing the safety of the device according to German standards.
Intertek: International independent certification, testing, and inspection organization. Provides services that ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of products, systems, and processes with international standards.
Reliability and Quality: Products bearing the Intertek label have undergone extensive testing to ensure they meet specific quality and performance standards.
Safety: The certification indicates that the product is safe for consumer use according to international standards.
International Compliance: Ensures that the product meets the requirements of the market in which it is sold, particularly regarding safety and environmental responsibility.
The best brand of all for safety power strips. I searched a lot but found this one. I bought 10 of these. It has a relay with manual reset and thermal protection. I learned from electricians that I cannot generally cause a surge to test if the surge protection works. I thought to see if this particular power strip is good in terms of overload protection. I plugged in 2 electric heaters and a fan heater, and after 10 minutes, the relay of the power strip tripped. Good thing. That's how it should be. Since it worked under overload, it should logically protect against surges as well. A fake power strip from another brand caused the circuit breaker to trip instead of the power strip's relay when I did the same test. Bad thing. That shouldn't have happened. So it does not provide protection against overload and surges. They sold it as a power strip with overload and surge protection. Crystal Audio never again. Also, the Crystal Audio power strip did not protect against the surge from the generator and burned my speakers. There have been cases where the network surge from the electricity company damaged equipment for some friends and acquaintances in the past without a safety power strip. That's why I bought this one. I would prefer if it could have more outlets, although I think that's not possible. I had to plug a power strip into another power strip in some outlets in the house. Of course, at a low load. Overall, I am completely satisfied.
