The Ceratophyllum demersum "Foxtail" was found in a small tributary in Bolivia during a mission to the Rio Guapore, a river boundary between Brazil and Bolivia.

The Ceratophyllum has no roots but can still be planted at the bottom of the aquarium. The stems can grow up to 80 centimeters high and 5 cm wide.

The "Foxtail" variety is distinguished by its short leaves and lateral shoots, which provide an attractive, compact appearance.
