I got them for music.
Beautiful large-sized headphones.
I found the sound mediocre compared to the money offered.
The bass, especially with the ANC, is excessively strong, and anyone who says otherwise either has a problem with their headphones or their ears.
Personally, I consider the normal bass to be at clear bass -9 from the app.
+Positives:
Battery,
Relatively good ANC,
Multiple Bluetooth connections,
App
Touch controls which are very convenient (play/pause/volume/answer)
Button to switch (ANC/Ambient/Normal)
Case that comes with it
They hear me clearly on calls
-Negatives:
Bulky
Plastic
They could be lighter with different materials
I would appreciate the mobile app being available for Windows/Mac (I haven't found anything with a little searching)
Very expensive headphones for what they offer, and this is said by someone who received them as a gift.
I have been a owner of these headphones for two years and I have to say the following: on the positive side, they have very good and clear sound, they are lightweight, after 3-4 hours you are fine, meaning no fatigue at all, the bass won't deafen you but it's OK, and the carrying case is very good and sturdy, and the battery has very good longevity. Now for the negatives, once the faux leather on the pads cracks, goodbye headphones, there are no replacements, it cannot be removed, resulting in them being useless, they tear up your ears, they are full of black spots from the leather, they make you sweat a lot, especially in the summer, there is no fast charging, the connectivity is not the best, and in some applications, it doesn't recognize the microphone of the headphones. I bought them for 130 and now I see them at 190, for no reason, guys stay away
-exceptional sound quality for the most part, you can improve it more with Sony's equalizer if voices sound muffled or the bass feels too strong.
-the noise canceling is good for the price
-construction quality could be better
-sadly they are not sweat resistant and this is gonna be a problem in the long term
I will start with the positives. The noise cancelling is a nice feature, one that I didn't imagine would interest me, but after trying it, I appreciated it. The sound is very average for headphones in this category. It is slightly better than the 40 euro Edifier headphones I have... These headphones are supposedly known for their "great" bass, but that's where we laugh... It's lacking. Now for the very negatives, unfortunately the build quality of the headphones is extremely poor. I knew that Sony doesn't excel in materials and overall build quality, but this left me stunned. I am very meticulous with my things, maybe to the point where it can be considered excessive. I am careful with how I put on and take off my headphones, even how I rest them on my desk (I have a large mouse pad to rest them on "temporarily"). Well, don't expect the ear cups and the leather on the headband to last more than 6 months. If there is even the slightest "crack" in the leather, it will become more noticeable every day until it completely detaches from the headphones. Unfortunately, that's why I give it two stars. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone and I'm sure there are much better products for this price.
Purchase 180 euros. Stay away from this awful product, I don't want to give you details, stay away. Good bass and sound here. SENNHEISER Momentum 4…stay away, stay away, it's the worst there is
Very good headphones! For the 150€ that I bought them, they are PHENOMENAL! The bass is very strong and heavy, it might give you a little headache at first. Overall, I think it takes a few days/months for your ears to get used to them because otherwise the sound and noise cancellation are very intense, and it's a sound that most people's ears (including mine) are not accustomed to.
The headphones are exactly what I expected. Good and deep bass, clear sound, good ANC, and comfortable for long hours of use.
It connects to 2 devices and plays flawlessly without latency.
At €150, it is the ideal purchase and I highly recommend it. For over €220, which is the price in many stores, I would go for the Sony WH-1000XM4 or Sony WH-1000XM5 because then the price difference is worth going for the top.
I would like slightly better plastics, somewhat comparable to the Sony WH-1000XM4, and a slightly stronger volume.
If you listen to phonk, death metal, or Edm, this is the best option. They have great bass. The touch on the right side turned out to be incredibly useful for me. The app made them worth their money.
Those of you with Dolby Atmos mobile phones, be careful because Atmos affects the sound in terms of volume.
It slightly affects the highs, meaning that the sound, apart from the bass, may not be 100% clear, so it is purely for those who love bass and volume rather than crystal clear sound, for that you should go for Audio Technica. As soon as I tried the jack, I threw it away, something I more or less knew wouldn't produce good sound due to the fact that I have Xiaomi (spoiler alert, Xiaomi is terrible in terms of sound through a cable, that's why I went for something via Bluetooth).
I will come back if there is a problem.
4/4 - I noticed that the app does not work well with calls on Viber and Whatsapp. That is, if you are called from Viber, the call is heard from both the speaker and the headphones, and then the music as well, and then you have to restart for it to work properly again.
There is no such problem with phone calls, only with internet calls, so be careful with public transportation because after Viber and Whatsapp, the other passengers hear what you hear
First of all, I wanted to buy good headphones for exercising, walking, reading, and overall everyday use. I couldn't afford to spend 350 euros to get the XM05s when I looked at these. One thing I have to say..... AMAZING
1) Comfortable after hours of use
2) Sound with exceptional quality
3) Connected to both my laptop and my mobile phone
4) Incredible battery life
5) They come with a case, fold easily, and you can easily take them with you
6) They have excellent bass
I adjusted the sound to Vocal through the app since the bass was too much for me..... I highly recommend them. One of the best purchases I have made.
For now, I'm giving it only 3 stars because I had a lot of difficulty connecting them... I wouldn't call them plug and play. I downloaded the Sony app on all devices, otherwise it wouldn't connect to anything. After I work with them a bit, I will come back.
3 months later:
I'm adding another star due to the sound and build quality. However, I still don't understand why someone needs to download the Sony app to connect and it's not plug n' play...
These headphones are the evolution of the WH-XB900n. Compared to the old model, they do not have NFC and aptX codec. They are also entirely made of plastic. These are the negatives. As for the positives (which did not exist in the old model):
- Nice hard case instead of the old pouch
- Connection with 2 devices simultaneously. I connected them easily with almost every type of device (Windows, Android phones, and TV box). The simultaneous connection of 2 devices is really worth it and will make your life easier. Also, if you are listening from the other device and the phone rings, they automatically focus on it. If you pause one device and play the other, it transitions to the other automatically.
- The noise cancelling is highly satisfactory, better than the tested old model.
- Regarding the sound: do not judge their sound based on the default settings. You will find it overly bassy and dull (let's not forget that they are tuned for bass emphasis and have EXTRA BASS written in capital letters on their box...). However, by selecting the 'bright' profile in the EQ, things change, other frequencies are highlighted, and the sound balances while the bass remains strong. I also increased the Clear bass to +4 and didn't bother with the sound again. It's fine for me.
- Despite the removal of aptX codecs, I did not experience significant delay issues when watching movies. The LDAC codec only works if we are connected to one device (logical because it requires more bandwidth). Now, for gaming, there is also the 3.5" audio cable with which they work even when not charged.
Overall, I think they are worth it for the €139 I bought them for.
UPDATE: After about 1.5 years of minimal use, the ear cushions need to be replaced, but this does not change the overall good impression and is probably something that applies to all headphones. You can find replacements for this model for around €5-€6 on Aliexpress.
