Description

The Book of Psalms is among the most well-known and beloved texts of biblical literature. All other books of Scripture are read in the Church in excerpts. However, the Book of Psalms is read in its entirety and repeatedly. The Psalms, as poetic texts, are distinguished by their unique expressiveness, depth, vividness, and insightfulness. They are a spontaneous language of communication with God, which often praises and at other times prays, confesses, reflects, or urges self-criticism. This is why the Psalter has been loved worldwide and throughout all times, as it addresses all people. In this edition of the "Psalter," the text of the edition edited by the late professor of the Theological School of Athens, Panagiotis Bratsiotis, was used as a basis and is still circulated with the approval of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. With the publication of this volume, the trilogy of liturgical editions of the Hellenic Bible Society is completed, which began with the release of the "Eclogadion," which includes text and translation of the liturgical readings from the New Testament for the entire ecclesiastical year, and continued with the corresponding edition of the "Prophetologion" for the excerpts from the Old Testament.
