The sides are made of hard plastic, which slides on every surface and it is practically impossible to "roll" your foot on the roller. You simply "drag" your foot along with the roller and wonder how difficult it would be to have a softer plastic or a rubber on the edges so that it wouldn't be a completely useless item.

I use it for "catches" on the sole and pain from plantar fasciitis and neuropathy. It is lightweight and cannot withstand high pressure (it doesn't help much for acute pain - inflammation). But it provides a lot of relief and is an excellent product for daily foot relaxation and rest after standing or walking. I use it on carpet and it rolls perfectly with light pressure on the sole. Very good purchase.

It is very lightweight without saying that it is not durable - time will tell. I use it for foot massage.
