The Café Gaia coffee maker features a stainless steel thermal carafe with double-wall insulation to maintain temperature. This top-quality, unbreakable thermal carafe preserves the aroma and temperature for more than 2 hours. Thanks to the double-wall design, the coffee stays at 65°C for at least 2 hours.
Wonderful Aroma & Taste
The thermal carafe features a convenient "smart" lock, which ensures that the aroma and temperature remain unchanged when you remove the carafe from the coffee maker. I see some people dismissing the coffee maker, for example, because they need to press the button again to complete the brewing of the coffee. Doesn't it occur to you that everything needs some maintenance? It needs cleaning from the limescale. White vinegar is the best. You might not believe it, but it's the truth; I bought it in 2005 for the business to always have hot ready coffee for us and our guests. Since 2013, I have it at home and it works daily every morning, winter and summer, because I take it with me to the cottage. Nineteen years and it continues like new. Keep it clean from limescale and the carafe the same way many describe. Before bringing it home, I had a Braun and I had to change the carafe 3 times (because it broke, €15 each). Buy it no matter how much it costs.
A great coffee maker, with only one difficulty being the lid of the container which is placed and used quite awkwardly (it has three positions) by an elderly person who does not see well.
Very good coffee maker, makes coffee very quickly and the jug, because it is made of inox, keeps the coffee hot for several hours (definitely 4 hours). On the negative side, the jug has a small opening and cannot be cleaned easily at all.
Flawless device.
You press the button and almost immediately you hear the water rising and going into the filter.
The jug is very convenient and functions like a regular thermos.
It is reliable and does its job correctly. Two negative points: a. the jug is designed in a way that makes it difficult to pour the coffee into the cup, b. it brews the coffee at a higher temperature than necessary (I estimate around 90 degrees), probably to keep it warm in the jug for longer hours. Up to 3 hours, it stays at the right temperature. Pay attention to the ratios, because from some comments it seems that some people messed up. Simple things: 1:15-1:18 (coffee:water) depending on the desired intensity. Measure the water in ml, don't get confused by the indications on the coffee maker.
Very good coffee maker until recently when the button keeps turning off constantly and I have to press it continuously to continue the water flow. It's probably broken, I am dissatisfied after 2 years for the 60 euros I spent
I had bought this coffee maker 7 or more years ago because of the stainless steel jug. It has good build quality, although it may not seem so at first glance (I had it for 7+ years). My parents needed a coffee maker, so I gave them mine. I then bought a cheaper one, thinking they were all the same. However, the other brand coffee maker I bought broke quickly within a few months, so I ended up buying this specific one again.
I read in a comment that "it turned black inside from the coffee"... yes, that's true... if you leave the coffee you made for about 2 days without washing it, it will turn black.
In conclusion, the coffee maker is very good and offers great value for money. I highly recommend it without hesitation.
As for maintenance:
- Once a month, depending on usage, put 50ml of white vinegar in a liter of water. Run it with a coffee filter to collect any salts it has accumulated. Rinse it and it's ready to use.
- When the container turns black inside, fill it with hot water and add a spoonful of vanish. Close the lid, shake the jug inside a sink for a few seconds. Empty the contents, rinse well, and it will be like the first day you opened it.
(This is the way I maintain it... it is not the manufacturer's recommended method)
Not at all a good coffee maker. The coffee comes out in very bad condition, poor thing. The carafe turned black within two months of use, as you can see, and the coffee it produces is pure poison. I came to the countryside for 5 days and remembered how the filter coffee is from a cheap 20-year-old coffee maker.
Very good quality, but it doesn't last as long as I would expect. It is the most expensive on the market and needs replacement in 2-3 years. There are coffee makers for 25 euros that last forever.
I don't like that the lid opens on the side and if the paper doesn't fit well, it gets stuck. Also, the spout comes out in a strange way when you want to wash it. Additionally, it is difficult to remove the lid from the pitcher, you have to turn it in a specific position
5 stars only for this very good French coffee maker!!!! I bought it for my wife as she loves French coffee. It is a well-known brand and has good quality construction, with the advantage of an iron pot instead of a glass one, resulting in the coffee staying hot and fresh for hours. It's worth its money!!!
Very fast coffee, good build quality, easy filling. Unfortunately, the coffee is tasteless and it takes a lot of coffee to get color. It saves a lot of electricity as it automatically turns off once it's empty and the thermos keeps the coffee warm for at least 2 hours, but it sacrifices the aroma of the coffee because it happens very quickly. On one hand, we have electricity savings, on the other hand, I put much more coffee than I used to, so there is no difference for me. I chose this one because in the previous one I broke the glass jug and when I saw that it costs half of my money, I was shocked. Eventually, after buying another jug, the coffee maker broke in a short time, even though it was relatively new, 2-2.5 years. Let's hope this one lasts longer.
I have had it for just one year. The coffee it made was quite good for the first 10 months or so, but suddenly it started to burn the coffee for some reason.
I cleaned the coffee maker, changed the brand of filters, and even the brand-variety-grind of coffee, but it still smells burnt. Unfortunately, I will have to throw it away as it is no longer drinkable.
I am very disappointed that its lifespan was only a few months, as €60 for a filter coffee maker is not cheap...
Maybe it just happened to me, though.
Purchased on 29/12/21 for 76.90. It's not worth that much money since you can find it on skroutz for 60, but I redeemed bonus points and it was worth it for me. At 60, it is an excellent and safe choice. Initially, it disappoints because its plastic reminds you of a Chinese imitation, and in the first few coffees, it gives off a plastic smell.... But then it takes revenge. As soon as the plastic disappears (after about 2 jugs with plain water and three whole jugs with coffee, and it's gone...), the thermos takes action. The coffee is made extremely quickly (it's 1000 watts) and everything (aromas, taste, etc.) is perfectly enclosed in the thermos and comfortably maintained for about three hours without any changes... You are spared the fear of breaking glass and the burns and dirt on the base, since the base is not heated. It's just plastic for the thermos to sit on. I won't buy a glass one again... If Phillips paid better attention to three points (1. the head of the thermos is functional but doesn't inspire confidence that it will last for years - especially the lever when pressed to let the coffee fall through the filter... 2. The dripping is not the best, and in the last drops, it's a bit difficult to serve, but this can be overcome by completely removing the head and pouring it all out!!! and 3. When you remove and insert the filter, it doesn't give you the feeling that it locked and fit perfectly, and in general, it could fit perfectly...). If they paid a little attention to these details, we would be talking about a coffee maker of epic proportions that would be worth 80 euros and more. But if you have them, don't regret it...
Very fast coffee, it retains the aroma and keeps the coffee hot for hours. Unfortunately, the coffee cannot be reheated on the base if you want to drink it after hours. The camera is very well constructed both internally and externally, although the base is made of plastic of mediocre quality. It releases normal steam towards the end and is relatively quiet. At maximum water capacity, it comfortably fills 4 large cups of coffee. Compared to glass carafe coffee makers that I have used, this is the first one where I can strongly perceive the aroma and it remains hot. It is worth the extra 20-30 euros compared to glass carafes.
Purchased 05/19 for office use. Broke down 01/21 and was replaced 02/21 within warranty. Broke down again 10/21 with the same problem and we were informed by PHILIPS customer service that it is out of warranty. "The descaling should be done with white vinegar and not with a special descaling bag for coffee makers"... Whatever you want to understand!!
Until now, I had bought coffee makers with a glass carafe. The metal carafe is everything. Also, the lid of this specific carafe closes and keeps the aroma inside. Overall, this specific carafe keeps the coffee unchanged for a longer period without any loss of temperature or aroma, and without burning the coffee. This combination enhances the taste and aroma of the coffee.
Tragic coffee maker, it eliminates any taste and aroma. No matter what you put in, it only produces bitterness...
Try operating it without closing the coffee container (with the pot in place without the lid) and see how it sprays water... it's laughable. The old Moulinex (which has the flaw with the button since then) makes great coffee, I don't understand the reason for the existence of this one.
The coffee maker took a hit. Additionally, the handle of the pot leaks water during washing and doesn't go away when upside down and drained, resulting in water dripping from the handle when you put it back in place. The lid has a similar problem, it holds water when draining due to poor design.
I bought the Moulinex again, much cheaper, and the difference in the taste of the coffee is clear.
And with a smaller amount of coffee. That's it.
Very good coffee maker! Good construction materials, beautiful design, and produces good coffee. It is important that it has a stainless steel thermos carafe. It keeps the coffee relatively warm for 3-4 hours. It doesn't break! The taste of the coffee that stays inside for so long is not altered too much. I have it since I was a student...! Since 2006. I came to write a review because since then I haven't had any problems, until this year, after 15 years, when I make coffee, it produces excessive steam. To make, for example, 2 cups of coffee, you have to put twice the amount of water... it also takes quite a while to prepare it... Of course, after 15 years of use, it is justified... Time to replace it with the same one! I highly recommend it!
Perfect café!!! I have it for 8 years with 49 euros and it never broke down with daily use, winter and summer!!! The coffee stays hot for over 4 hours in a full carafe.
This coffee maker is worth every euro! Just the fact that it keeps the coffee warm from the bottom instead of heating it for hours and in the end feeling like you're drinking mud, says it all. Durable as well, as its performance hasn't decreased at all since 2016 with daily use, and it comfortably fits 5 large cups.
Excellent filter coffee machine. It preserves the aroma and keeps the coffee hot for over 2 hours. Durable construction of the jug. Satisfied with its performance
