The "Debuto" was more challenging for me than any educational book I have published so far. It was written and rewritten until I considered it ready for publication. My difficulty was one and only: The book is aimed at beginners and for this reason, mistakes had to be avoided as much as possible, especially those that could prove detrimental to anyone touching a musical instrument for the first time.

The "Debuto" is not a "method without a teacher". On the contrary, it requires their presence, as the teacher is the primary and decisive factor for the correct learning of any instrument. Therefore, their obvious presence next to the beginner student led me to avoid theory and excessive words as much as I could, something that I have done in all my educational books until today. Another thing that I completely avoided is the presentation of musical pieces. In this book, there are only studies, although sometimes the concept of study as you will encounter it here does not differ formally and much from a piece. All exercises and studies have one and only purpose: To help the student practice specific technical problems and enable them to overcome them easily and comfortably when they encounter them later during the interpretation of various works. Another reason for the absence of musical pieces in this book is my belief that their selection, as well as the selection of certain supplementary exercises, is the right and obligation of the teacher, who is the only competent person to evaluate the individual abilities, personality, and any difficulties of each student separately and provide the correct solutions where necessary.

The book is divided into two main parts. After the Introduction (a chapter with exercises for the right hand on the six open strings), the First part begins with exercises for both hands on each string separately and gradually expands to all strings together. After each series of exercises, there are Studies - duets of similar difficulty for the student to play with their teacher or with another advanced student, which is necessary because every beginner is forced to play monophonically on a polyphonic instrument. By playing in duet, they will learn to distinguish the polyphony of the guitar from a very early stage and will be able to address the most basic problem of every new guitarist, which is the sense of rhythm.

In the second part of the book, there are 24 Lessons. Each lesson includes a series of exercises aimed at practicing the student on specific, different technical issues each time. After each lesson, there are Studies on the same technical subject. Between the first and second part of the book, there are Rhythmic exercises (Prima Vista) and 12 Ballads for two guitars, which are technically based on the exercises and duets of the first part. In the ballads, rhythms and tonalities become somewhat more complex, so special attention is required from the new student, who may encounter the greatest difficulties at this point.

In the ballads and studies, there are Musical terms (Allegro - Moderato, etc.) accompanied by a metronomic indication, depending on their character, as if they were regular musical compositions.
