Smart idea to have ports on the base. However, it is no longer the only base that provides this feature. This one is indeed lightweight for transportation, opens and closes smoothly, but its huge flaw is the way and the points where the two "legs" are hooked in the 4 tilt positions. With the slightest movement of the base, they lose connection and the laptop is left hanging.
The loose connection combined with the unstable base make the side ports another way to lose balance. In other words, when you try to plug anything into the USB port with the minimum pressure required, the legs of the base immediately detach, no matter what position they were in.
Finally, the tilt at the edge of the base, where the laptop rests, is borderline to keep it from sliding forward.
