Before I write the review, I worked with it for almost 2 weeks. One thing I will say about its speeds: 867 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. With a simple LED, it helps you find the best position for optimal coverage throughout the house, even on another floor, which helps a lot so you don't have to try 20 different outlets. It covers the 2 rooms that had issues with the stock router in a 120 sq.m area. It also connects like most devices from the company with the Mi Home App, and its setup is a piece of cake. Another very powerful feature is SmartLink. It allows you to configure it so that if your main connection fails (5 GHz), it automatically connects to the other band (2.4 GHz). I used to have a TP-Link before, and it is the only one, if I'm not mistaken, with dual band, where you couldn't change the connection password (UNACCEPTABLE). Xiaomi once again solves issues with Smart devices.
Waste of money! I bought 2 (I was so sure) and they have already been put in the bag for device recycling, in less than 6 months of use.
- They disconnect multiple times a day.
- Terrible range, for fun I placed them right next to the router and during setup they would say "bring extender closer to router".
- When they disconnect, the only options for reconnecting are the WPS button, which never worked, and the factory reset and setup again as a new device.
- 80% of the time it is in disconnect mode, with the red light as you can see in the photo.
- Customer service is nonexistent. I sent emails and used the app, with photos and a description of the problem, but I didn't receive a single automated confirmation email.
The only positive thing is its speed and the ability to run on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, but what good is that if it hardly ever works.
Stay away!
Wifi Extender is a disappointment! Not a day goes by without it disconnecting, even at a distance that maintained a satisfactory signal for my 8-year-old tablet. I really don't know what went so wrong in the creation of this device that it fails to fulfill its one and only function. I had purchased it trusting Xiaomi's high position in the technology industry (regardless of the fact that the majority of their mobile devices fall within the range of affordability) and their experience in electronics, but it seems I was mistaken.
Very good and satisfying with good range and strong internet, as for the installation it is very easy
Guys, no matter how much it costs, it's not worth it if you want to do your work with the internet. For me, it didn't have good coverage even at a relatively short distance from the router and it frequently disconnected. Personally, I would suggest spending a little more and getting something better. It's barely worth it for occasional internet use.
I have had it for 2 years, with LAN, in a bedroom socket: 100Mbps line, I have never seen it go below 85 Mbps. As a Repeater, I haven't tried it, but based on the performance I have seen so far, it will definitely excel there too.
4 stars because it does not have a restart button or a setting to restart, and I have to unplug it and plug it back in from the socket.
Useless. It does not have roaming function, resulting in the creation of two separate networks (2.4 & 5 GHz) by default. It cannot find the router in the next room. Money wasted
It is satisfactory but for some reason when I go to the balcony, which is 2-3 meters away from the router, I get 2 internet lines. However, it does the job for my room.
Although it was difficult to connect for the first time with the phone in order to do the initial setup, once I managed to do it, it works great.
From the ground floor, it strengthens the signal on the 1st floor, so besides a stronger signal, I have greater range and better speed. In other words, it does the job it is intended for perfectly!
It also has a waiting mode for LAN connection with a computer, something I haven't tried. I haven't tried the 5G either.
Easy installation. Heats up enough and needs to cool down for devices to reconnect. 2.4G range is moderate. 5G range is poor. If you don't care about 5G, get the 2.4G from Xiaomi, which is smaller and has a larger range.
Tragic!! After 3 months of operation, it simply stopped connecting to the internet. I have reset it many times and the same issue persists. It is only 4 meters away from the router
For some reason, it seems to have some interference, even when I changed the channel from my router it still doesn't fix it and the red light keeps flashing. Okay, let's say it has interference or something like that. Unfortunately, it doesn't give you any other option, it leaves you like that, in the cold of the bathroom without any options for change, etc. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but it should have been made easier. The application that the Xiaomi Home has is generally very good, but for other devices (like a vacuum cleaner). This specific wifi extender device doesn't give you many options to "play" with and that makes it difficult to use, etc. Kind of disappointing for XIAOMI, I must say. If someone can identify what I'm doing wrong, I would gladly appreciate them telling me, because I'm about to throw it in the trash.
I returned the first one I had purchased and they sent me a new one because it was frequently disconnecting, but the problem seems to be general with the model. However, the worst part is the difficulty of reconnecting it. The app does not easily find the repeater, and even when it does, it may take 2-3 attempts to reconnect (always with device reset because there is no other way). So, if you are in the middle of a teleconference, for example, you lose the whole thing unless you connect to the main router. Overall, not satisfied at all. Unfortunately, it's not worth it
1 star and I will explain why in very simple words, I bought it from the eshop myself and fortunately because it has a return within 7 days, etc., so it connects with the app, very correctly! Well, up to this point, you will see the lights turn blue, both of them, which means successful connection. However, in the app it stubbornly shows that the extender is not connected to your home modem, EVEN if it is right next to the router. I tried many times but it came out useless, honestly I don't know who it worked for, a bad choice for the trash can only. I have been supporting Xiaomi for years but in this area, it's a big NO from me.
In general, it is very worth it for its price (20€).
At a close distance (though with angles), it turned a space with moderate signal from "weak" to "strong".
However, I initially struggled with its installation. I couldn't connect it to my router until I had to download the application (which is an optional move, according to the user manual).
10 meters away as soon as I close 2 doors of the rooms it becomes orange, meaning weak signal, with open doors it becomes blue
Set it up with the WPS button as instructed, do it first next to the router and then take it to a remote socket and you're good to go. It doesn't require setting up again, the configuration remains. Connect 2 mobile phones, 2 tablets, and 1 Xiaomi TV box, all working perfectly. Time will tell
Waste of money - a) it did not synchronize with the router b) you cannot change its SSID c) if you plug it back in, you have to first take it next to the router to synchronize it again and then put it where you had it. TERRIBLE, stay away - get the TP-LINK RE305 v4 WiFi Extender Dual Band (2.4 & 5GHz) 1200Mbps
Purchased 20 days ago. It works perfectly so far. Connected immediately even though the router is on the lower floor. I use it to connect my computer with an Ethernet cable and for now, it responds flawlessly.
I use it as a repeater on the Mi4A Gigabit Router with a connection speed of 360down/360up and placed at a distance of 6 meters from the router it transmits approximately 150-200down/150-200up. Its range is very satisfactory as a repeater for a 100-120sqm apartment.
When connected to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, it connects smoothly and never disconnects, working properly and without any issues on the Cosmote ZTE H1600 Router, which is located almost next to it. The problems and disconnections start when you connect it to the 5GHz Wi-Fi of the Router, which is the reason why you choose this specific one. So, if you only want it for the 5GHz and this feature is important to you, it is better to find something else.
UNACCEPTABLE. I didn't have crazy expectations. I wanted a Wi-Fi extender to cover my bedroom. And while the installation and synchronization are very easy, it does absolutely nothing. When I'm connected to it, the refresh takes over two minutes (if it even does it). I'm writing this review from my mobile using my data because for the past 30 minutes it's not responding. Basically, I'd rather throw the money out the window than make this purchase.
I got it to provide internet to the upstairs floor.
Excellent performance without any lags or disconnections.
Two out of two... Suddenly they suddenly stopped providing internet and they don't connect to anything.
The first time I asked for a replacement.
With the second device, in less than 12 hours, it disconnected in a way that I didn't have with the first one.
Let's say around the 12th hour, it presented the same problem as the first one.
Refund...
While it is synchronized correctly, it lights up a red light and requires a restart to function again.
After 3 months of use, which initially worked fine, now for the past 10 days, sometimes it has internet and sometimes it doesn't. It shows that it is connected but there is no internet. I reset it from the beginning but still the same. It's better to spend a little more and not bother yourself.
It does not connect to the router, it keeps disconnecting. Sometimes it says it has no internet. It is not worth its money, it's a waste of money. Get it from another company
Simply perfect
It boosted the signal in my room completely!
The first Xiaomi product that turned out to be crap. It cannot be paired with my mi home account no matter what.
I tried another region, same results.
I tried using the WPS button, it connected to the router (both lights turned blue) but it didn't bring internet.
Failure. I have its little brother and it works fine. (slow, but at least it works.)
It's going in the trash. Try a different brand instead. The 20 bucks were wasted.
(Note that I placed it right next to the router and distance was not the issue.)
It works fine, very easy synchronization, no need to use the app, just press the WPS button on the router and it connects. It loses about 15-20% speed in my case, but the walls in my house are thick. For the price, it's great.
Owner here for about 1 week and I have to say the following:
Very good speeds,
Good range, no disconnections at all
Fast speed on 5G as you can see in the photo.
It's value for money, highly recommended.
I will come back if I encounter any issues for an update.
