First of all, let me clarify that I bought this purely for the internal hard drive and not to use it as a set with the enclosure. I just wanted a second enclosure and it happened to be cheaper this way.
The reason is that even though the hard drive has a large capacity and is reasonably priced, this particular enclosure does not have an on-off button. Since I wanted to use the hard drive for storage and only open it when needed, this enclosure did not suit my needs. So I bought it, removed the hard drive, and placed it in the enclosure of a smaller hard drive (1TB) that I was previously using for storage. The enclosure I used is the LC-Power LC-35U3 Acrux (you can find my review of it there).
I put the old hard drive in this enclosure and placed it on the TV, where I need it whenever I turn on the TV for pause and record functions. This way, I got exactly what I wanted and customized it to fit my needs without incurring any additional expenses.
Now let's talk about the hard drive itself. As I mentioned earlier, I use it for storage. For as long as I've had it, which is not long, I have not encountered any issues. It is quiet and has very good speed through USB 3.0 (in tests with Crystal Disk Mark, it reached 153MB/s write and 175MB/s read), making it a great upgrade for my desk.
The temperature is good (30°C~35°C).
Also, the enclosure, even though it now contains a different hard drive, works perfectly fine without any issues.
Of course, there will be cases where some people receive a faulty hard drive. Unfortunately, that's how it goes in the world of electronic devices. It's the same reason why some screens may come with dead pixels, some motherboards/power supplies may be faulty or problematic from the start, and so on. It's all about not being the one who gets unlucky. However, there is a warranty for that. But let me ask you, does it matter to you that you lost your important files and not that the company will give you a new one? I completely agree. That's why, because I'm in the world of electronics and I know what can happen to each device, I always keep a backup of my important files on another hard drive and I also strongly recommend considering cloud storage. It has truly saved me, and I no longer fear losing my files no matter what happens to the hard drive. However, personally, I consider it a big mistake to trust your sensitive files to just one hard drive.
In conclusion, I believe that at this price, with Seagate's quality (along with WD and Toshiba as the top hard drive manufacturers) and this capacity, it is ideal. I recommend it!
